Average KOA. All facilities in good order. Staff efficient,.location is urban. Pool, hot tub, showers, electric, water, all in good order. Park maintenace is as expected and satisfactory.
Mesa / Apache Junction KOA has far more competition for the RV trade than most KOAs, and its standard formula for campground success doesn't fare well in the Maricopa desert. It has a swimming pool that was well used during my stay, but few other supported activities. It's on the extreme eastern edge of the Phoenix megapolis, and that makes it easy to get out into the desert or to the Superstition Mountains, but it's a long drive (40 miles to downtown Phoenix) if you want to take advantage of the... There is a full range of nearby groceries and other shops commonly needed by RVers.
The campground itself is on the dingy side, due to the dust storms common to the region (or so the signs along the highway would lead me to believe). And that dinginess is unrelieved by a hint of grass it's all sand, with occasional cactus. They put me in a back-in site on the back of the property, not quite far enough from a nearby highway, so the sound of traffic was constant. The first week or so, I also had dogs on both sides of me, and their owners seemed to think that the way to control a barking dog is to yell at it. Fortunately, the dogs slept through the night, and eventually left. My wifi connection to the internet was poor through my hotspot, and non-existent through the campground wifi.
All in all, I don't plan to return to Phoenix or to this KOA.

The campground facilities were great but the staff was no very helpful. The staff did not apply my KOA discount and would not help when I provided her the information again at checkout. The campground is over priced.
Good check-in with friendly people. Pull-through sites are nice size with easy entry and exit. Not a fancy campground, but clean and well kept. Good location for exploring the east side of the Phoenix area. Only drawback for us was no cable TV connection. You need your own antenna to get local TV stations.
