Arriving at this campground, we were excited because the sites appeared natural and it looked like it was going to be a great spot for Labor Day camping. Then we found things don't work. Important things. They advertise cable tv, it's a joke - just snowy on most of the 7 channels we could get in. Then there's NO cell service! After thinking ok, we'll make the best of this weekend, the PEOPLE arrived. They spread out beyond the two sites they were supposed to use and walked thru our neighbor's site... Read More

After thinking ok, we'll make the best of this weekend, the PEOPLE arrived. They spread out beyond the two sites they were supposed to use and walked thru our neighbor's site (on their mat)! They had LARGE dogs that were not always leashed and there were several incidents of barking, growling and mayhem. That was when we decided to go home. It's not like our sites were hidden from the view of the OFFICE. They could see this encroachment and did NOTHING. The boisterous crowd enjoyed sharing all their conversations with the rest of us beyond sleeping time.
Bottom line, we would NEVER go back and it I could rate them lower I would.

This is an OK park but you are definitely off the grid. There is no wifi or cell phone service. This would be fine except when we were there a number of fires were in the area and causing road closures. We could not find out which roads were closed and which were open. It seems that the campground management could have done something as simple as post the road closures, but they didn't seem to care much about keeping campers informed. Office was closed completely on Tuesdays. At other times,... Read More

It seems that the campground management could have done something as simple as post the road closures, but they didn't seem to care much about keeping campers informed. Office was closed completely on Tuesdays. At other times, office door locked due to Covid restrictions. Staff not particularly friendly. Cable was OK except limited to maybe 6 or 8 channels. Site was good for motorhome. Large with easy parking. Our site was quite dusty but had some shade trees. Other sites had grass but not much for shade. Bathrooms and showers closed due to Covid. Picnic table and fire ring at each site. Maintenance and care could be better. We had wasp nests in box for cable hookup and box for electrical hookup. Nice thing about park is easy access to Lassen Volcanic National Park. We would stay here again. May not be our first choice, but it is worth keeping on our list.

On April 21, 2018 at about 6pm we arrived at Rancheria, an RV park we like and have stayed at many times over the last 10 + years. Rancheria has a very large Good Sam illuminated sign at the entrance. The office was closed. The instructions (which we found on the ground) said we could pay the $40 site fee, put it in an envelope, and stick it in a receptacle, OR we could pay when the office opened the next morning at 9am. I opted to pay the next morning so I could get the Good Sam discount.... Read More

I opted to pay the next morning so I could get the Good Sam discount. I was told by the person behind the counter that they did not provide a Good Sam discount to arrivals after the office closed for the day, so I had to pay the full price of $40. The person was somewhat curt and not friendly like the staff people there that I had dealt with on prior stays.
I do not feel that this was right. It's not the money, it's the principle of the matter--my Good Sam membership discount was refused for the first time ever anywhere.
While I like the park and the people I have dealt with in the past, unfortunately we do not plan on staying or recommending Rancheria anymore. There are other Good Sam parks that actually honor the value of being a member and long-time customer of Good Sam.

Great place to stay. We stayed for 4 nights in October. We had a back in site on the Pond. The site was clean and level with a fire pit and picnic table. Quite park with minimum road noise due to the logging trucks at this time of the year. The park is prestine with abundant tall pine trees through out giving the feeling of camping in a remote area but with all the amenties of the finest RV Parks. Roads are paved and facilities well maintained. There is a restraunt on site. Although we didn't dine... Read More

Although we didn't dine at the restaurant they did upon our request bake a marvelous real homemade peach pie made with home canned peaches. We highly recomend staying here and will certainly stay again on our next kayak trip.
