This quiet and isolated campground is nestled in a gorgeous scenic valley. Morning and evening views of the surrounding Santa Ynez mountains are simply breathtaking! We took CA-154 up to Paradise Road on our drive in and it was an absolute breeze. Several online posts had mentioned concerns about the 1.2 mile paved road that leads into the campground, but our 28 foot class A RV with tow car had no issues. We took CA-154 up to Paradise Road on our drive in and it was an absolute breeze. Several online posts had mentioned concerns about the 1.2 mile paved road that leads into the campground, but our 28 foot class A RV with tow car had no issues. It is a bit narrow in spots so take your time and be careful. Warning: there is no cell service in the park. We had to drive 7 miles out to CA-154 to get a decent signal on our AT&T and Verizon phones. The lodge is closed but free wifi is available on the deck. Unfortunately it is quite slow. We stayed in full hookup back-in site #47 for 3 weeks and it was quite comfortable. Rancho Oso has 7 parallel rows of 30 amp FHU sites. I recommend going up to the top if possible to get the best views. Restrooms were clean and washers and dryers are located outside. The machines worked great and they take quarters. Recycling is available for all items except cardboard. We ordered 3 different packages during our stay and they all arrived without issue. Large groups of wild turkeys roam around the park and we really enjoyed watching them. The entire staff was wonderful but Len at the ranger station was especially kind. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to answer questions. Len also said that horseback riding is available at Rancho Oso for $50.00 per hour. Not really our thing but some folks will undoubtedly enjoy it. Onsite country store had a decent selection of products and DVDs are available for rent. The pool is open but you have to reserve a 1 hour timeslot. Thank you Rancho Oso team for a wonderful experience!
