Fairmont RV Resort Good Sam Verified Campground

I am writing a "guest" review, but I wasn't given an opportunity to be a guest. Like many other reviews I have read about this place, the owner/operator/manager (whatever he is) is a mean spirited nasty jerk! On our way there, we called 3 times to say we will be a few minutes late. Call #1 in the morning, "manager" says to call if we will be late. I am writing a "guest" review, but I wasn't given an opportunity to be a guest. Like many other reviews I have read about this place, the owner/operator/manager (whatever he is) is a mean spirited nasty jerk! On our way there, we called 3 times to say we will be a few minutes late. Call #1 in the morning, "manager" says to call if we will be late. Call #2, (late afternoon) the "manager" tells my wife to call when we get off the freeway. Call #3, and we are now leaving the freeway, "manager" hangs up on my wife. Call #4, nobody answers. Upon arrival no more than 16 minutes after the posted office hours, we see nobody, the office is dark, and no late checkin board. So, we went to pick a spot and then I figured to walk back to the office. In no time at all, the "hospitality" manager comes racing up in his golf cart and tells me the spot I selected isn't open. I ask, "Where can I park?" He says, "You're not staying here. Now go!" I pulled out of the spot and stopped to look for a different RV campground. At that point he comes up again and says, "Get off the property NOW, and find another campsite from out on the road.", at which time he runs his golf cart into the left fender of our 5th wheel. I said, "Have a nice day." and immediately left out of concern for him doing something worse. Given a choice in the future, I will sleep in my car rather than go anywhere near this poorly run establishment. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. There are plenty of gracious and courteous hosts at other RV campgrounds nearby.

DO NOT STAY HERE! In 50 years of camping we have never left a campground, this was due to the owners extreme rude behavior. Book our site online as no one at office when arrived at noon. When setting up owner came and said this site not available (even thou available online) and ask if we “always make our own rules”. Left us no option but to ask for a refund and find another campground. Had a $25 canceling fee! Campground almost empty and can see why!

We booked this resort for 2 days. We were very disappointed when we arrived. It hasn't been maintained like the the Good Same book shows. It is run down, grass is spares, brown or dead in every site and full of weeds. No picnic table at any sites. This resorts rates are not justified there are no amenities, the prices in the store are ridiculous owner is taking advantage of his guest. The staff was rude at check-in. We booked this resort for 2 days. We were very disappointed when we arrived. It hasn't been maintained like the the Good Same book shows. It is run down, grass is spares, brown or dead in every site and full of weeds. No picnic table at any sites. This resorts rates are not justified there are no amenities, the prices in the store are ridiculous owner is taking advantage of his guest. The staff was rude at check-in. I witnessed him hanging up on a potential guest. I would not recommend this place may have been good at one time. We are unhappy with this selection. I think the Good Sam rating needs to be change and reflect what it is today.

This is a perfectly adequate physical facility. All services at our site worked just fine except the Wifi -- which had failed due to a major fiber optic cable cut that certainly wasn't the park's fault. Our gravel site was slightly tiled to one side but could have been leveled if I had got out my leveling hardware. Site staff, on the other hand can only be described as surly. This is a beautiful campground with spacious gravel, dirt sites and well-maintained grounds. Everyone was very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. The only drawback is no cable TV of any kind and the Wifi was non-existent.

One of the reasons we picked this park as a stop-over for our trip back from Rapid City/Sturgis is because they offered to share facilities at the Fairmont Hot Springs resort next door. Imagine our disappointment when upon arrival, we were informed that the hot springs resort was closed. While they did offer gate passes so we could use the swimming pool at the resort, none of the other amenities would be available. Imagine our disappointment when upon arrival, we were informed that the hot springs resort was closed. While they did offer gate passes so we could use the swimming pool at the resort, none of the other amenities would be available. NOTE TO SELF: Next time you make reservations, be sure that all the facilities you want ARE available! While the Fairmont RV Resort is relatively quiet and the people seem to be friendly, it's an old park with limited resources. Only one restroom/bath house facility for over 100 campsites, and very little shade. I didn't see any picnic tables and what little grass there was seemed to be suffering from lack of water. The "pet area" was just an open field with no fence or enclosed area for the dogs to run.

This is a beautiful campground with spacious, long pull-throughs and well-maintained grounds. Everyone was very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. The only drawback is no cable TV of any kind and the Wifi was a bit limited. But overall, we had a great stay and we would definitely stay there again.
