We are touring and pulled in to Riverside because it was a Good Sam Campground. We arrived just after closing and called the after hours number but no answer (this was also the emergency number). As there was no registration facility for late arrivals we took one of the many open sites. Went to the office in the morning and was greeted by very friendly staff. To our surprise however, the amount we were charged made Riverside the most expensive of the 75 plus Campgrounds that we have stayed at... Read More

Went to the office in the morning and was greeted by very friendly staff. To our surprise however, the amount we were charged made Riverside the most expensive of the 75 plus Campgrounds that we have stayed at in the last three months and that was after our good Sam discount!! The site we had was a standard full hookup on uneven gravel so nothing special.
Our advice then, to avoid any shocks, if considering this facility is to check pricing first.

This will be our third winter at Riverside and will also be our longest stay yet. From the excellent and clean facilities, to the staff, to the variety of sites and activities offered to the numerous stores, restaurants, and other activities within a short distance from the park, it all comes together to make for a very enjoyable place to stay. The park is basically divided into two types of sites. The newer sites on the eastern side of the park offer cable tv and internet service as well as... Read More

From the excellent and clean facilities, to the staff, to the variety of sites and activities offered to the numerous stores, restaurants, and other activities within a short distance from the park, it all comes together to make for a very enjoyable place to stay. The park is basically divided into two types of sites. The newer sites on the eastern side of the park offer cable tv and internet service as well as much larger sites but don't expect any help avoiding the sun as there are little to no mature trees on that side of the park. The older western "classic" side of the park has somewhat smaller sites but still have cement patios and full hookups. It also has many full growth oak trees that provide great shade on most sites as well. But this older side also has no cable tv or internet available so antennas and tripod/carryout satellite dishes are the way to go. Tengo internet is available everywhere in the park but as is the case in a lot of parks, it is spotty or inconsistent at best and forget about streaming anything. Your best bet for internet in the older legacy side is using your mobile device or hotspot since all major carrier's towers are fairly close by. For longer seasonal stays, there is DSL available in the legacy side via Centurylink but it can be pretty expensive out of contract. Riverside is VERY pet friendly with two separate fenced in areas where dogs can run off leash, play or just read their "smell" mail. One for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. There are also numerous waste cans with doggie bag dispensers all over the park to help guests pick up after their pets and keep the park clean for everyone's enjoyment. And if your pet loves to socialize or enjoys the water and you really want to give your pet the time of their lives, you really need to visit the "Paw Park" just a short 20 minute drive away at Venice beach on the Gulf of Mexico where they are free to run off leash, play in the waves, or socialize to their hearts content. But as with most any park, Riverside does have just a couple rules and regulations regarding pets that may or may not affect you so if your have any concerns, just give them a call. One less common one is that they do not allow retractable leashes so we just keep a regular leash and extra harness in our RV at all times. In our opinion, Riverside is one of the nicer and more enjoyable parks we have ever stayed at and I think you will like it to.

Great park
I'm dissatisfied with the pet policy and the advertising of being such a pet friendly park. After paying I was told and required to use a 5 foot leash at all times with my small 10 lb dog instead of my extender leash, including in our campsite. I observed long term campers playing Frisbee with three large dogs out in the open areas with no leashes at all. Also observed another camper letting his Pit Bull run freely throughout the park. Perhaps there are different rules for different customers.... Read More

Only stayed for a week but found this park to be a busy place with all the activities. Park and facilities are in excellent shape and clean. Other guests are friendly and helpful. Only problem is the internet service. Website says it is provided by Camplink but it is not. I have used Camplink at other parks and had very good service. This park now has Tengointernet which comes and goes and signal strength varies greatly even though I am located very near an antenna. Have had this in other parks... Read More

Is slow and disconnects often. Would recommend this park based on everything else except the internet service. Have been using my own hotspot to get reliable internet.

This is our third winter at the park. We are in the new "Lakes" section. Grounds are beautifully maintained, great pickleball and tons of activities. Staff go out of their way to assist. Down by the river are fishing piers, picnic areas and boat launch. Very active kayak & bicycle clubs. Internet thjs year problematic but some improvement seen recently. Park in need of larger activity center which I expect will happen. Overall, a great spot for the winter with lots of things to do in... Read More
