Smuggler's Den is a great park to use as a home base while exploring Acadia National Park. The sites for the bigger rigs are up front with smaller rigs (and sites) in the back of the park. We stayed four nights on a full hook-up back-in site. It offered plenty of room for our 45' coach and our toad. The site was very large with hook-ups in convenient locations. Water pressure was okay. Getting into and out of the site was easy enough for a careful driver. The park itself is sprawling with... Read More

Getting into and out of the site was easy enough for a careful driver. The park itself is sprawling with many areas for kids to play and ride bikes, etc. Great play area and a decent pool. The park abuts a dirt road which will take you to Echo Lake for some great swimming with a beautiful backdrop. The park store/office was well stocked and staffed by friendly and informative staff. The park is on the "quiet side" of MDI, which is nice. However, don't let the description scare you off. Still plenty of options for groceries, food, shopping, etc. within a short drive. We did some drive-bys and drive-throughs of other parks in the area (both on and off the island) and think this is one of it not the best options in the area.

Quiet and pleasant surroundings. Easy to find and well marked from roadway.. Concrete pad on large grassy space. Fire ring and good picnic table at each site. Sites are level and in great shape. Dish reception in most areas. Pleasant reception personnel and office staff. Close to Acadia NP and restaurants. .
Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 6 nights in a site for big rigs. We had the first site to the left and it was quiet, private, and level cement. Our satellite did not work here (to many large trees to get reception). If you are looking for a quiet and clean park where you can sit outside and relax. go here. We enjoyed our stay, and would go back.
