Overall, we had a fantastic trip. We visited the black hills, the Badlands, and everything in between! We used this resort as our "base camp" and completed day trips from there. Its location was convenient to Mt. Rushmore, Rapid City, Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon, and Custer State Park. Badlands national park was approximately 1h30m and Devil's Tower was 2h15m. All in all- it was pretty centrally located. The owners and employees of the property are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The resort... Read More

The owners and employees of the property are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The resort is very well maintained. Our cabin was pet friendly! That is a little tricky to find in the Dakotas. It was clean and had all of the promised amenities. While it did have a full bath, it was on the small side. I ended up using the shower in the communal bath house (which are nice). We were glad to have the included gas bbq! It allowed us to cook in for several meals.
The property does not have a pool or on site laundry. There is a laundromat behind the Cennex next door. We ended up taking our dogs to the creek at the resort to wade around. There are also plenty of lakes with swimming beaches nearby. We did not take advantage of the trail that passes through the resort. We hiked so much in the state and national parks that we didn't have the energy to hike anymore! The trail looked to be well maintained and seemed to be popular for walking, biking, running, etc.
Hill City itself is a nice little town. Businesses do seem to close early, so plan accordingly. We had a nice meal at Desperados. We bought all of our groceries at Krulls, the local market which seemed to have everything we needed.
If you are debating a trip to the Dakota's...just go! I We had a fantastic trip and I would highly recommend it. I would also recommend staying at Black Hills Trailside Park Resort.

Small camp ground, near to town and shops. No camp store, small sites clustered together no pull throughs. Wifi kept cutting out wifi booster helped but not much. Restrooms were very nice and clean. Small creek cut along side the camp. Bigger rig did take up and lot of room.
This was a great stay. We extended due to the excellent location, staff, and cleanliness of the facility. This resort is near everything in the area. No city traffic to deal with. Under 3 hour drive to Agate Fossil Beds NP and 2 hour drive to Devil's Tower. Located in the center of the Black Hills Forest. Everything else is super close. Besides a great location, the staff is exceptional. Friendly, helpful, and professional service. The park is extremely well maintained. There is a bike rental... Read More

Besides a great location, the staff is exceptional. Friendly, helpful, and professional service. The park is extremely well maintained. There is a bike rental shop at the southern entrance to the park. Since the George S Mickelson Trail runs between the office facility and the cabins, it is very convenient. The bathrooms and showers are great and always clean. The RV sites are next to the stream and very clean.
There is a laundromat in the shopping area next to the RV park. This place is great!!

This park was extremely helpful and very beautiful. We parked beside a creek with trout. The location was minutes from all the Black Hills attractions. The manager went above and beyond to help. I would recommend this park to anyone visiting South Dakota.
Have stayed her 7 out of the last 9 Sturgis Rally weeks. WiFi is the downside to CCR. Other than that it's great! Will stay here again in 2016
This is a great park on the south end of town. Nice stream runs through campground and walking trail along side goes for miles. Easy walk to downtown Hill City, close to Mt. Rushmore.
