We camped at Heritage RV Park for two nights during the second week of July 2019. Although it's easy to see the RV park as you drive up, many people miss the park because there isn't a good sign at the entrance road. Slow down as you approach the park and turn in just before you get to the main building. It's always busy during the check-in time, but the desk person got us checked in as quickly as possible. We checked into our beachside campsite where we had full hookups including 30 amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV. They charge a premium price of $77.65 per night for any of their campsites. No discounts. Very expensive in my opinion, but our beautiful beachfront location made this bite a little easier to take. Our campsite was not level and required about 3 inches of adjustment to level our motorhome. All of the interior roads are gravel the dust can get to be annoying occasionally. There are no trees and the campsites are fairly close together. The amenities offered at the RV Park are excellent. There is a superb restroom, shower and laundry facility with a full time attendant who does a great job keeping the facility clean and extremely well taken care of. The store in the main building offers a specialty coffee bar, snacks, souvenirs and has an observation deck available for you to take in the view. This RV park is extremely popular, I would not recommend driving to Homer without a reservation if you want to camp here. We have camped at Heritage RV park in the past and will continue to come here because of the unique beauty of the area. However, I would not choose to camp here if I had to pay a premium price for anyplace other than a beachfront campsite. The premium price here is a significant downgrade for this RV Park.

The traffic noise from the highway and entrance lane road was TERRIBLE from early, early morning until midnight or later!! Entrance lane road should have a speed limit sign of 5 mph. Somewhat quieter if facing the water but get these reservations way in advance. Otherwise, the tour groups are given these sites. Cost of $70-72 per night is excessive. Most sites just wide enough to put out slides.
Don't make the mistake I did when researching this RV park. The diagram scale on the website made the waterfront sites look too difficult for us to safely back into. These sites are designed for Class A or C motorhomes to accommodate the waterfront view out their front windows. TT and 5th Wheels must back in and the hookups are quite a distance (wrong side of trailer) requiring extra long power and hose connections (which we have). On their website the lane looked too narrow and backing in seemed... Read More

On their website the lane looked too narrow and backing in seemed not possible or too challenging to me. So we opted for a pull through site away from the water and (disappointingly) right next to the highway. Having seen the layout in person, I can assure you backing in was definitely possible and I had made the wrong choice of sites when making the reservation. Our assigned site was too close to the main highway, traffic noise all night long and the sites are close enough to hear your neighbor's family arguments. Not pleasant. Laundry, restrooms and cafe are all clean and pleasant.

After traveling the Alaska Highway we finally making it to Homer. We stayed in this RV park. We are a 37 foot fifth wheel and need a space that will accommodate us--which they had. The restrooms and laundry have an attendant there at all times and a card has to be shown to enter the building. We understand that they do this to keep other folks on the spit from using the facility. Facilities were very clean. We were in the prime of fishing season and got to watch the fisherpeople use both poles... Read More

We understand that they do this to keep other folks on the spit from using the facility. Facilities were very clean. We were in the prime of fishing season and got to watch the fisherpeople use both poles and dip nets to do that. Many folks there wondered why we were there if not fishing. We ate at both the Fresh Catch Cafe as well as the Harbor Grill. We were seeking halibut since that is what Homer is known for. Both were ok. When asked which one was the best halibut, we replied that I don't think that we found it. Both were average with great views. We did go up to the Salty Dawg one evening for a drink. Place was a hoot and we would definitely recommend it to someone.
We also took both a drive and a walk on Outer Harbor Loop. There at about the half way point on an iron post (used for docking large boats) and at eye level--we saw a eagle nest. The eagles nest had a chick and both parents were hovering about the area (look in the large crane behind).
Home was a place that we would like to come back to and this place is recommended.

Great RV park right on the spit. We arrived without reservations and were able to book two nights but had to move once to another site and we did not get a site by the water. So if you're coming to this park in the busy season, recommend reservations. There is no shade. The sites are gravel and my back-in was not level. The sites are a little too close together for my taste. The restrooms/showers are clean and very good. The wifi is good. There is TV hookup as well. Can't beat the scenery. Waking... Read More
