We camped in Seward for two nights during the first week-end in June 2019. These city campgrounds are very easy to find along the water. They are gravel parking lot style campgrounds along the water about 6 blocks from Seward's downtown harbor. Some sites are dry camping while others have water and electric hook-ups. Unless you are traveling in a caravan, the campground doesn't take reservations, it's "first-come-first-served". Once you find an available campsite, you check-in with a credit... Read More

Unless you are traveling in a caravan, the campground doesn't take reservations, it's "first-come-first-served". Once you find an available campsite, you check-in with a credit card vending machine like you would use in a self-serve pay parking lot. For $40 per night we got water, and electricity (30 or 50 amp). No sewer is available at the campsite. There is a dump station across the street, $5 user fee, that usually has long lines. We were in the third row back from the water the view was fantastic. Public restrooms and pay showers were available, however I didn't use these facilities. Our campsite was very narrow, no table or fire ring and it required a 4 inch adjustment to get our motorhome level. Fire rings are available in the row of waterfront sites only and a few picnic tables were seen. The sites were narrow with some units so close their opposing slides came within a foot or two of each other. There is little to no privacy in the RV park. Seward is a very popular destination with beautiful views of the harbor and surrounding mountains with seals, sea otters, an occasional whale and Bald Eagles soaring overhead. Be sure to arrive early (noon) to get a site. If this campground was located anywhere other than sea-side Seward, AK, I would rate it lower, but for the beauty of Resurrection Bay and the unique qualities of the city of Seward I rated the campground a "3". We will be back!
