This was once our favorite place to go and stay over the years because of its nice facilities with things to do on-site and its proximity to Hollister, Gilroy, and Monterrey Bay. On most most recent stay, this place was a ghost town, I mean empty, which we had never seen before. The facilities were unkempt, with overgrown lawns, and dirty bathrooms. All the back-in spots along the river were closed off to RVs with those being replaced by cabins they are putting in to rent instead of people coming... Read More

All the back-in spots along the river were closed off to RVs with those being replaced by cabins they are putting in to rent instead of people coming in with RVs. They have about 20 cabins on the grounds so far, with about 8 ready to go online for rental and the rest waiting to be set up in their place. From what I gathered talking to some of the long-term campers living on site the new owner has grand plans for the property, and those plans do not involve RVers. We are not so sure we will ever be going back, which is sad since we loved this park once.

Disappointed with being put in the very back of property w uneven pavement! Buildings and some grill equipment was rotted and not well cared for. Grass not mowed. Some staff helpful although not able to provide a service.

My wife and I stayed at Casa De Fruta RV Resort many time in the previous years. A few times with our daughter and her family in their RV. We and our family really enjoyed the park and it's many facilities, restaurant and fruit stand. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were traveling from Oregon to California Central Coast. We didn't mind driving from Hwy 101 to the Park. We wanted to travel back in time and remember "the good times" we spent there. The Chevron Station "is not"... Read More

We were traveling from Oregon to California Central Coast. We didn't mind driving from Hwy 101 to the Park. We wanted to travel back in time and remember "the good times" we spent there. The Chevron Station "is not" RV friendly. It was difficult maneuvering in and had to wait for a parked car to leave to drive out. In back of the station, there were 6 diesel stations, and they were all empty. We reserved a drive through site with 50 amps. We specifically mention we did not want to unhitch our car. Once we drove into the extremely unlevel site the water, electicially and sewage connection were located to the rear side of the car. The unfriendly lady at the desk didn't appreciate our circumstances and suggested unhitching our car and backing the RV. But we asked and was given another site. The reason for my "2" rating the park and what was identified as the "dog area" has been neglected a great deal. This park justifiably received high ratings in the pass but now the "resort" needs a "great deal" of work. My wife and I couldn't tell our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters how bad the park was.

This was our second stay at Casa De Fruta, this time for a week. The facility is very pet friendly, grounds are well organized and the staff is friendly. My primary issue was with the state of the women's restroom/shower room. In the morning it was relatively clean, except for the grout mold in the showers. In the evening it was absolutely filthy, dirty muddy water all over the entire floor, hair all over the shower walls, and mold in the grout.. I realize a facility is only as neat and tidy as... I realize a facility is only as neat and tidy as it's clients, but it was awful night after night. And while the showers were free, the water was lukewarm at best. On our last night, Casa De Fruta was in the PGE blackout area. Casa De Fruta has no control over that, and I get it, but the water to the RV park is pumped. They had no backup generators for the water, so the entire facility was without water. We will visit the park again but will certainly take precautions to be independent.

The sites are level and paved. Casa de Fruta restaurants and shops are within walking distance. The office staff is very friendly. The only problem is that it's not near anything. You are a 20 min drive from Hollister or Gilroy.
