We were extremely disappointed with our stay. We reserved a spot along with our camping group 15 months before our planned arrival for our annual campout. We confirmed our reservation about 1 month before our arrival. Upon our arrival, we were moved to a site other than what we reserved, away from our group, and too small for our trailer. The office staff just told us, you're not getting the site you reserved. We ended up in a site in the center of the campground (we reserved creek front) and a... Read More

The office staff just told us, you're not getting the site you reserved. We ended up in a site in the center of the campground (we reserved creek front) and a short distance from the rest of our group. Two other members of our group encountered the same problem. This campground has a large number of seasonal guests and as a result there are large amounts of junk piled at a number of campsites. The staff is untrained, arrogant, unresponsive and uncaring. Our group has camped here in the past, but needless to say none of us will be back.

The campground is nice however the premium spots are muddy full of ducks, geese and their associated excrement. While we tried to practice social distancing in our own campsite there were others walking through our campsite fishing around our picnic tables and feeding the ducks. Fireworks are not allowed in the campground however there were people who were setting off fireworks scaring the dogs. Our dog was on her electronic leash in our sight at all times and someone made a complaint that our dog... Read More

As we were hoping to give this campsite a five-star rating, we were very dissatisfied.

We have stayed with these great folks multiple times a year for the past 3 yrs. They have great access to the Soco creek for trout fishing for a reasonable tribal license fee. Our site have always been fairly level, the bath houses are well kept, and the staff have always been so friendly. On the weekends during the main season there is entertainment and planned events for the kids. Not sure why the bad ratings and sad to see these, but if they want to go glamping, there are several other local... Read More

This was a GREAT site! Came into town for solar eclipse. Great distance to waterfalls, Santa Land (looked cute/well maintained from the road), casinos and Bryson City (cute town about 10 min away - great, inexpensive tubing (~$3-4/tube all day) down beautiful river and 2 waterfalls). Staff monitored who was allowed into the site, front office helpful and sweet. I saw reviews on other sites saying office staff rude and not helpful...we didn't experience or witness that at all! Quite helpful... Read More

We were in site #6 along the river. It does back up to the busy street, but the river is louder than traffic! Fantastic spot!! Apparently, the river is stocked every week with fish - our neighbor caught his dinner there two nights in a row! Steep and winding, 2 lane roads into town, so travel down Rte 19 NOT recommended...We took office staff advice and came down 74, exit 74.

This campground is not customer friendly at all. We had booked a 2 night stay (using our Passport America discount). We arrived late on Friday night and checked in. Our site was very unlevel. Our front end was way high making the steps into our camper almost impossible. We stayed the night and then went and talked to the office. They told us that there was nothing they could do since we were using Passport America. They were extremely unfriendly and not customer service oriented at all.... Read More

Our front end was way high making the steps into our camper almost impossible. We stayed the night and then went and talked to the office. They told us that there was nothing they could do since we were using Passport America. They were extremely unfriendly and not customer service oriented at all. We went back and tried to straighten up and see if we could make the site better. It didn't work. In fact, our sewer would not even drain. We went back and asked again if we could move. The answer was NO. They had plenty of empty sites in the campground. We asked for our money back. The answer was NO. We told them about the steps - they told us to get a ladder. We told them about the sewer and they told us to pick up the hose again and again. I would not recommend staying at this campground at all. The WIFI is terrible and cell phone service is terrible. We asked several questions about the area and they were extremely unfriendly. We decided to go ahead and leave - loosing the payment for the night. Find somewhere that will appreciate you business and treat you like a customer!

Season in Cherokee was off but campground was open. Found campground to be quite and very peaceful. wifi was very good but did not have phone service{thank God}. I have stayed here several times in all seasons and will return. Talked with several of the staff and all were super nice. Can not remark on the restrooms but were large and seamed to be well maintained.

They offered a couple activities for the kids such as a hay ride and bouncy house. The facilities are clean (no trash laying around) but not maintained. The cable did not work, the WiFi is spotty at best, and it is pretty dusty. The current manager is very rude, condescending, and obnoxious. I approached the owner with my issues and he agreed with us and even stated other campers approached him with how aggressively he spoke to me. Because of him we will return to Cherokee but NOT to Happy Holidays.... Read More

We've stayed here a couple of times, and although the facility isn't "Country Club" style, our stays were pleasant and uneventful. The river side sites offer the pleasant sound of moving water, but the adjacent highway noises tend to obscure it. Rustic might best describe Happy Holiday, but we found it pleasant, and used it as a base to visit Great Smoky Mountain NP, the Cherokee "Unto these Hills" performance and other area attractions.

Our site was next to a scenic creek but it was poorly maintained with no drainage so due to the fact that we had heavy rain on several days, our site turned into a giant mud puddle. With six inches of water and mud covering the ground outside our door, we could not put out a mat and chairs. As if that was not bad enough, there was lousy wifi and no cellular service! Forget this place unless you just want a short getaway and don't mind putting up with some really bad infrastructure. The plugs for... Read More

Forget this place unless you just want a short getaway and don't mind putting up with some really bad infrastructure. The plugs for the sewer hookups consisted of two-liter soda bottles filled with water and stuck into the pipes. They advertise pizza in the camp store, and then they close the store at five PM so you have to eat early if you want to purchase a pizza. Aside from mowing the lawn and emptying the trash, they do no maintenance and the entire place appears to be in a state of steady deterioration.

Stayed for 7 nights with 5 other member RVs from our small Good Sam RV group. One of our group had to cancel for personal reasons, which left a site open in the middle of our 6 campers. With MANY MANY other sites available, the management put 2 different 2 night campers into the spot right in the middle of our group, which disrupted both our group and the other campers. The WiFi service is a joke, only accessible between midnight and 7AM, showing minimal bandwidth even with "STRONG" signals. There... Read More

The WiFi service is a joke, only accessible between midnight and 7AM, showing minimal bandwidth even with "STRONG" signals. There is NO cell phone service, with either AT&T or Verizon, so communications back home are out of the question unless you drive 3 miles outside the campground. We were assigned "PREMIUM BACK IN SITES" along the creek, but some were too narrow to open awnings or slides. The swimming pool water was discolored, as was the water at the campsites (my water filter was new, but even after running the water continued to be brown). We expected MUCH MORE for $50/night. None of us would return here. On the plus side, the bath houses were clean and tidy (air conditioning would have helped), and the staff was friendly and cordial.
