We stayed here while we were visiting South Padre Island and it was a great experience. There seemed to be a lot of activities going on in the club house, and the very friendly residents urged us to join in while we were checking in. Time constraints prevented us from doing so, but it sure looked like a lot of fun, and like in the earlier reviews, we were impressed with how friendly everyone is, including the staff. We would definitely recommend Palmdale RV park as a place to spend the winter.

We're fulltimers. Over the years, we have stayed at almost 100 campgrounds. This is the first one we'd consider moving to permanently when we can no longer continue our nomadic lifestyle. We stayed here for 7 months. The people here are wonderful. From our first day here, they made us feel like part of the community. The park is clean and the sites are roomy. The only problem we had was that the electric post is too far back. We had to go up the street to Walmart to pick up an extension cord. End... Read More

Another good thing about this campground is its location. It's about halfway between Harlingen and Brownsville, and 25 miles from South Padre Island. There's no cable at this campground so if you want cable, you have to call Spectrum Cable to set up an account. It cost $34 for installation, then about $55 per month for basic cable which includes the sports channels, Travel, Animal Planet, etc. They offer several premium packages that include HBO and other channels that you might want, but we didn't need them. We used the campground's wifi and had no problem with it. I'd recommend Palmdale to anyone interested in spending the winter in South Texas.

Or just take time out to relax by the heated pool. The sites are huge - 40' x 90', so you're not in your neighbors lap. Palmdale is pet friendly and you can participate in all, any of the planned activities or just take off and explore the area and great places to eat. Yup it is paradise and an amazing place to stay

The new owners have been spending a lot of money improving this park. New roads, new pool and hot tub surface, new rest rooms, new flooring in the community building and I know they are not done yet.The owners, management and residents are all friendly and helpful. Most of the complainers and trouble makers have moved on so don't believe all the criticism you might see posted. The sites are the largest in the area and the location is central to almost everything. The prices have increased a bit... Read More

Lots of activities available both at the park and nearby. The park is filling up fast this winter!

Large sites, friendly people, excellent bathrooms, lots of fun things going on
This has been a great stay. We have been here from December 1st to April 17th. The lots are very large and you don't feel as if you are on top of your neighbor. The streets were recently repaved and so when it rains the water drains properly. The staff and residents are very friendly. We have enjoyed the pool and the spa. The activity director has provided a wide range of activities from programs on site and off. There are constantly games going on, and residents will come find you to play.... Read More

Of course, if you don't want to that is your option. This location is a great distance between Brownsville, Mexico, Harlingen and of course, South Padre Island. The new owner is working hard to update the campground.

Well the roads finally got done (took 2 years) After the construction there is a lot of gravel & stones on the grass on the edge of the roads so you really have to watch when they cut the grass or you will end up with a broken window or damage to your rig & or vehicles (& the owner will not take responsibility for any damages). The owner is now charging $150.00 if you have a storage shed on your lot on top of the storage charge for your trailer which is $61.00 a month (tied down on your lot)... Read More

There a next to no entertainment this winter, maybe something once a month. For what we are being charged there should be a lot more going on at Palmdale.
So being a Winter Texan in this park is becoming very expensive, needless to say we are pulling out of this park this April along with a few others, time to move on!!
So check out other parks in the valley before you reserve here, you can get a better bang for your buck in other parks, believe me we have looked around.

The new owner and new management and staff have worked feverishly on the park. It is returning to the gem it use to be. As far as the streets within the park the redtape has been the holdback and will be replaced as soon as they can. At least you are not going to lose your tow vehicle or rv in one of them. But compared to other rv parks, the roads and park make you feel that you are in the best. Management, staff, residents and visitors alike make you feel right at home. This RV Resort is centrally located to all the attractions. We are glad to be back.

Promises made by new owner on roads and facilities last fall, but as of our departure this spring there have been no changes. Roads are very poor with standing water during rains and lots of mud. WiFi is questionable. The current residents are friendly and helpful, but not the management. The lots are large and proximity to South Padre are the only reasons to stay here. As parks in the RGV go it is probably ok, but we are used to a lot better.
Mostly winter Texans in residence. Better have extension cords as shore power posts are very far back on site. You park on grass. Restrooms are very limited. Would not stay here again.
