McCleod Park is on the Jourdan River in Kiln, Mississippi. It is maintained by Hancock County. We camped here for four nights. The park has two camping sections--One along the river and lake(which is perfect for boaters) and the other on higher ground directly behind the entrance. McCleod Park is on the Jourdan River in Kiln, Mississippi. It is maintained by Hancock County. We camped here for four nights. The park has two camping sections--One along the river and lake(which is perfect for boaters) and the other on higher ground directly behind the entrance. We liked camping among the trees in the park-like area behind the entrance. Some of these sites can be reserved. Our pad was concrete with a concrete patio and concrete picnic table. The pluses: Full hookups, paved roads, plenty of space between the sites, newly renovated bathhouse, very nice playground and splash pad, new basketball court, beautiful river, and three boat ramps. Lots of boaters were out this past weekend. Very few sites were left on Friday and Saturday. Camp store has drinks, ice, and ice cream, but very few supplies; however, there's a Family Dollar and other places nearby to re-stock the basics. My one criticism is that the bathhouse was not cleaned and restocked regularly. With the large numbers of campers this past weekend, this should have been a priority. While there, we enjoyed visiting Crosby Arboretum in nearby Picayune. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely return.
