This is by far the worst Good Sam camp we have been to. Not only is it crowded, crappy, narrow road, sand, and low type occupants, the sites are too small for campers of any size. Mine is 25 feet. The first site we went to power pole was knocked down on the ground. I could not back up due to crap from the permanent occupants’ yards. I had to use my 4-wheel drive to pull forward to the road up hill. Then I had to dodge the low hanging limbs while I drove back to the main road. The only paved... Read More

I had to use my 4-wheel drive to pull forward to the road up hill. Then I had to dodge the low hanging limbs while I drove back to the main road. The only paved site could fine was on the side of a hill. It barely held the camper. We did not unhitch. We needed the truck to make sure the trailer did not roll. I had to use a ground guide to pull out to prevent the trailer from slipping over. I had to use the 4-wheel drive again to keep from slipping down the paved road.
My suggestion, Good Sam needs to delist this place. Second, if you need a place to stay, keep looking. This is not worth your time, trouble, or damaging equipment. And watch out for whoever put the voodoo doll up by the cemetery on the site.

Narrow and windy one lane streets to get into and throughout park. We were overcharged for pets which we didn't have, and was charged for cable which wasn't working. Many rotting and broken down trailers throughout Park in many sites. Sites extremely unlevel. Office was only open a very short period daily if at all. Person at office very unfriendly and unhelpful. Bathrooms needed updating but were very clean, and cleaned daily.
DON'T, JUST DON'T camp here! The lady at the desk when we were checking in was rude and the site we had reserves had a storage trailer parked on it. She put us on the next site and it was a mess. There was an old building on it and the sewer hookup was uphill. We moved to the next site and the power was wrong. We waited over an hour for that to be fixed. The sewer hookup for the next site was so close it was almost under our canopy and it was being used. Our picnic table was rotten, we did... Read More

We paid extra for WI-FI and it was SO SLOW it was unusable. Instead we setup a hot spot using our cell phone so we could get online. A lot of the camp sites were taken up with permanent campers and a lot of them were very messy. WE WILL NOT BE BACK!!!

My husband and I booked our stay through Reserve America website. We reserved a paved, pull-through site for our 40 ft 5th wheel. According to staff at campground, their system has glitches with Reserve America, so our site was double booked. We were put in an unpaved, mostly dirt, back-in site that turned into a mud pit when it rained. My husband told owner about need for gravel on the site, but owner stated there was too much rain to have it placed. DO NOT take your 40 ft or longer 5th wheel... Read More

Paved roads are one-lane with many sharp, ungraded turns and hills that resulted in damage to our unit. Cable TV lines run across sites, creating a fall hazard. At least half the campground is occupied by aging permanent camper residences. On the positive side, campground is convenient to Cherokee and Bryson City, and it was very quiet at night. Employees at park were friendly, worked very hard, and tried to be helpful. However, the campground is very old and desperately needs upgrading by owners.

The sites were very close. We had a small grassy area with picnic table, the grass was very tall. We couldn't sit at the picnic table because the grass was so tall. There was mud on the paved end along the camper. We had to put a carpet mat down to not sit or walk in mud. We walked out of our camper to a steep hill, close to another rv. We set up our chairs where we could, and had a great view of the next camper's sewage drain and it smelled! On the other side was a camper with a deck. They were... Read More

We walked out of our camper to a steep hill, close to another rv. We set up our chairs where we could, and had a great view of the next camper's sewage drain and it smelled!
On the other side was a camper with a deck. They were up hill and close so they could see into our camper.
The game room was ok. The pool table top was ripped in several places. The pool looked very clean.
It had good access to a grocery store and close to Cherokee. The people that checked us in were friendly.
We will probably not stay again.

I am giving a 1 star only because I can't do zero! Not at all like advertised. Does not accommodate 30ft or larger well. Very hilly. No room to have awning out and sit under. Lots of unkept permanent spots and mobile homes. One spot actually had a 5th wheel, 2 boats, an enclosed trailer, a side by side and 2 pickup trucks. Trash everywhere. Grass not cut. I would not recommend to anyone.
Fort Wilderness campground is a bad one to stay. As I arrived had an argument with the office on my booking. I have booked 50A site and they gave me 30A site. The owner lady was rude and finally changed it to 50A mud site. My booking confirmation said Paved and 50A site. When I got to the new site, the water and sewage where in the left side and electricity was on the right side. My cable barley made it. The mud smelled from. They had a problem with the septic tank and they fixed it. On the 3rd.... Read More

When I got to the new site, the water and sewage where in the left side and electricity was on the right side. My cable barley made it. The mud smelled from. They had a problem with the septic tank and they fixed it. On the 3rd. day of my stay (from 7 days booking and paid). the power went off. I ran my generator for a day and night and when I saw that the electric is not coming back I left. The electric system in this camp is old and not up to handle the load. The main breaker board just melted under the load. The wiring and the outlet are not up to code and my neighbor had only 90V in his 30A. so he also left the next day after he arrived. Many site rv's left on July 4th. as 90 degrees heat with no AC, is not what I paid for. The office refused to pay me back for the days that I left and for the day that I ran my generator with about $40.00 in fuel.
I will never go back to this camp as a voltage drop is danger for my rv appliances. Stay away from this place.

This campground is not big rig friendly. The sites are very narrow and not level. We had extreme difficultly maneuvering our 42 ft Fifth wheel into an extremely narrow, very uneven site. This took more that an hour and a half to accomplish. The site had no power. The maintenance crew was overwhelmed with other issues at the park and we waited 30 minutes for them to show up. They couldn't fix the problem with the 50 amp service we requested, so we ended up using a 30 amp service on a site two spaces... Read More

They couldn't fix the problem with the 50 amp service we requested, so we ended up using a 30 amp service on a site two spaces over for the evening. The owner even suggested we do without electric for the night. They charge for wi-fi and cable which in itself isn't an issue. However the inability to stream and the lack of channels certainly is.
Over all, we and several others were very dissatisfied with this campground and we will never return,

DO NOT come here if you have a 5th wheel camper that's more than 32ft. Especially don't try it with a 40ft or more. We just thought that no water pressure, power outage issues and a landscape that hasn't been cared for were our issues. Trying to camp with no yard on a steep hill with the inability to utilize our awning, plus being unable to get down the steep hills and around curves after checkout was worse. Trees haven't been trimmed for campers to clear and the overall unsympathetic owners and... Read More

Trying to camp with no yard on a steep hill with the inability to utilize our awning, plus being unable to get down the steep hills and around curves after checkout was worse. Trees haven't been trimmed for campers to clear and the overall unsympathetic owners and workers made things even more difficult. They should have known our campers wouldn't be a good fit for the spots the put us in when we called and made a reservation. If they didn't then, they should have when we checked in and they saw them. We don't recommend anyone with a large camper and slide outs to come here. The damage sustained to trucks and campers from just trying to depart was far from acceptable. No campground should willing allow campers to come in only to end up with inevitable damage that could have been prevented with proper maintenance and consideration. Not sure why this is consider recommended by Good Sam but it makes me worry for the future about trusting Good Sam campgrounds.

Very narrow roads and sites. Our site was not level, very hilly. Cable television was not working properly. Not worthy of a Good Sam Park. We will not go back to this campground.
The access to this Campground (I did not say RV Park) was very tricky for our Motor Home; it was a narrow, twisting and turning road wide enough for only one vehicle to pass in most places. It also had a lot of low-hanging foliage. We reserved a space for a 43' motor home with 50 Amp Service. Our site was actually for something considerably smaller and was equipped with a 30 Amp Receptacle (I did not say 30 Amp service). When we plugged in we barely had enough power to power the battery charger.... Read More

When we plugged in we barely had enough power to power the battery charger. Line 1 read a whopping 103 volts, Line 2 read 106 volts.
Cable TV was almost non-existent. Lots of snow and little image. Since the campground is in the wilderness, Satellite service wasn't an option.
Our local antenna was of no use to us due to the remoteness of the location.

Not worthy to be a Good Sam Park. More of a permanent dilapidated pull behind park with very small not level spaces and way over priced at $35 daily. Dirty bathrooms, office/store hardly ever open and large Hickory Nut trees to park under. Falling Hickory nuts Keep us awake all not to mention the possible damage to our rig and pull behind. Will never stay there again.
Owner and manager were very nice. Roads were very narrow but check in with the manager and he will guide you to the best spot for your rig. Since we had full hook ups we didn't bother checking out the bathrooms. Very quite and good views of the mountains. Close to Cherokee and several other attractions. The owner stopped by a couple of times just to check on us and make sure we didn't need anything. We enjoyed getting to know him.
one of the worst rv parks we have stayed in. rest rooms dirty, sites not level, 50 amp service not working, roads very narrow, entrance not easily accessible, laundromat dirty. I would rate this park 2 2 2
