We spent two nights here. The park has a lot of ponds for fishing but there is a $4 fee per person to fish. Bait available is limited to worms. No tackle is available. The only fish species seems to be catfish and perch. The roads are gravel and narrow. The sites are gravel on grass. They are narrow and ours was not particularly level. Since our class a has auto leveling it was not an issue but without levelers it would have taken several pads under the front wheels to level it. Utilities... Read More

The roads are gravel and narrow. The sites are gravel on grass. They are narrow and ours was not particularly level. Since our class a has auto leveling it was not an issue but without levelers it would have taken several pads under the front wheels to level it. Utilities all worked. There was an iron charcoal grill available. There was a picnic table on our site but it was placed within inches of the next sites sewer connection.
Our assigned site was within 150 feet of the parks septic lagoons. This would not be an issue except both days we spent there, the park was pumping water from the lagoons to spray on fields. The tractor used to pull the tank was very loud (perhaps 110 db) and was continuously in use from 10:00 am to 5:00 PM. We could not sit outside because of it.
Although labeled a resort, about 1/3 of the sites had permanent residents -- some of which were not the neatest or best maintained.
Overall, it was an ok park but we probably won't return.

Spring Lake is truly a "diamond in the rough"! The property is beautiful with lakes and "not Kansas-flat" terrain. There are so many things that could be done to make this a real diamond. The office staff are very nice and check-in was a breeze. Here's a list of things I would improve: 1. Get rid of all dilapidated rental trailers. Most are just unsightly. 2. There are many permanent residents. They need to clean up the area around their rigs. 3. Level the sites. It's not that they're not... Read More

It's not that they're not somewhat level but they could use some new gravel or, better yet, pave them. 4. Pave the roads. 5. Mow the grass. 6. Redo the bathrooms by the pool. 7. Plant some trees.
We would stay here again when in the area because there really isn't anywhere else.
I think there is a new owner and he is very nice. He seems to be trying to upgrade Spring Lake to a real "Resort".

This was our least favorite campground during our summer road trip. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: 1. Easily accessible from main highway 2.Check in was very easy and they take Passport America so rate was reasonable for the night stay over. 3. Site was pull-thru and lots were good size grass lot. 4. Picnic tables on all sites. 5. Pool area well maintained. 6. 20 mi drive to Hutchinson Strataca Salt Mine 7. Office staff was very nice and accommodating and allowed us to leave 1 hour... Read More

Pros:

3. Site was pull-thru and lots were good size grass lot.
4. Picnic tables on all sites.
5. Pool area well maintained.
6. 20 mi drive to Hutchinson Strataca Salt Mine
7. Office staff was very nice and accommodating and allowed us to leave 1 hour later than checkout due to our mine tour we had scheduled that morning.
8, Our Att cell phone and Verizon hot spot coverage was good.
Cons
1. A lot of full timers with stuff around everywhere which makes the park look run down.
2. The dirt/gravel roads are not in the best of shape in some areas.
3. The water quality didn't seem too good here, it was slightly cloudy and we have a filtration system installed in our rig. We drank bottled water just in case.
4. This could be an isolated incident but it was the biggest con for us during our stay. While we were at the pool with our kids there were a 5 kids at the pool alone ages ranging from 5 to about 17, maybe 18 who all knew each other. The eldest boy who was in the lounge chair got up to start playing rap music from his phone and we noticed what appeared to be a 9mm gun tucked into the waistband of his swim trunks that he was intentionally trying to show off. We left the pool immediately and then a few minutes later he left after us as a car drove to pick him up from the pool as our site was just across from the pool area. I'm not sure if he was a visitor or staying at the park.
I would not stay there again as that experience turned us off from this park.

Decent campground. The water is not good. I would definitely connect a water filter. Staff is very nice and activities are good. I will stay again.
Nice stay, lots of permeant campers. Nice hosts and lots of kid friendly activities. We stayed in 36' motor coach , site 73 that backs up to one of many fishing ponds. Well stocked with channel cat. Great fishing, saw a few real nice sized ones being caught. Will be staying here again when we are this way. Very friendly campers here.
