Our stay involved the July 4th holiday and weekend. We had a wonderful time in this facility. It's geared toward families with young children. Our site was a larger pull through #29. Easy hook up with plenty of space for my towed vehicle and additional visiting family. The sites are gravel, sand, clay mix. Our time was dry - without rain and hot. We may have a different outlook if their was alot of rain. I could imagine the layout to be mud producing. Each site seems to have some shade trees and... Read More

We may have a different outlook if their was alot of rain. I could imagine the layout to be mud producing. Each site seems to have some shade trees and a wooden table. The facility was completely full and yet the restrooms and laundry facility were kept clean. They are older but fully functioning and climate controlled. There is a train station with small passenger carrying trains to ride. A pleasure!. There is a scheduled daily activity calendar. Many activity venues and two children's play grounds. Swimming is available in a pond with 2 water slides and a climate controlled indoor pool. The pond has a waterfall that circulates water. My 2 year old grandson totally enjoyed this area!
The staff was friendly, check in was right on the money. The train's are ran on schedule and the facilities are open and closed on time. In short: this is a kids paradise. There is some draw back to passing the workamper area to get to the main grounds. There seems to be some "live in" tenants. If you require pristine grounds with landscaping immaculance or resort type amenities - this may not be the place for you. If you tend to look for places that allow only Class A motor homes - this isn't the place for you. But! - If you like a safe clean environment for your kids and lots to do to involve them - this is a gem in the middle of Baldwin County, Alabama. Shopping, Beaches and the city of Fairhope are all very close by. A perfect venue for your adventures.

We found Wales West quite by accident after calling numerous parks from Pensacola on westward while evacuating from Hurricane Irma. All we needed was a safe spot to hook up and wait out the storm - but we found so much more. First, the staff; so welcoming and they accommodated every rig they could with a lower "refugee" rate. Second, the residents; all wonderful and friendly. We met most all of them and they were so concerned for us and glad we made it to their park. The park itself is soooo... Read More

The park itself is soooo cute. It has a resident part and a camper's part. But the best part was the trains! There is a railway station, the building covered in gingerbread, with trains going out around the park twice a day. There are steam trains and a small, sit-on-top train for kids. The park also has a big swim lake with a slide, hayrides, a haunted forest, and Santa's workshop. It is all lit up at night.
Each night they held a social where everyone came out to meet up. On our first night, we went to the s'mores social and the second night there was an ice cream social. We met park staff, residents, fellow Floridians fleeing the storm, and all the pups and kids along with. These were wonderful evenings.
The staff went above and beyond for us too. We were traveling with our two Siberian Huskies and, after two days of driving, really need to run off some energy. They do not have a dog park, but we took them into the children's playground, which was fenced, each night after the socials. The staff came out and didn't chase us out, but instead showed us how to turn on the lights so we could spend some time and let the dogs run around.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT WALES WEST! You made our stress go away and we had a marvelous stay. We would love to come back for Christmas to see the grounds all lit up for the holidays. I'm sure it will be magical.
