This campground is in the middle of a forest preserve in Elgin, IL. It's kind of a hidden little gem for the locals.....a nice place to hook the RV up for a day or two and enjoy the forest, prairie, and walking trails. All the sites have water and 50 amp/30 amp electric. None of the sites have sewer, although there are two dump stations available for free for registered campers. The sites also had nice, freshly painted picnic tables and a fire ring. 5 bucks for firewood. It's first come, first... Read More

The people who run the campground for Kane county are very, very nice.
The sites are all asphalt, and some are very un-level. The nicest sites are along the west side of the campground, adjacent to the prairie. The sites on the east side of the campground along the woods have railroad tracks nearby, so be prepared to hear the occasional freight train go by. The rest of the sites are kind of out in the open with no trees between the sites for screening.
There are no pools nor activities or anything like that. It's just a nice place to park your RV for a day or two or few to enjoy the forest preserve. There are some walking trails, the longest one being an approximate 2.5 mile gravel loop, with some smaller trails running into the woods and prairies. There's a fishing pond, but it's overgrown with weeds and if there were any fish I didn't see any.
Overall, I'd give this campground 4 stars. I'd give it 5 stars if there was more to do while camping there. Regardless, you won't be disappointed dropping anchor here.
