Of the many campgrounds we have visited, Carowinds by far gets all the best ratings! Friendly and helpful staff checking us in lovely shaded and paved RV lots and most importantly ~ the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen! Not only were the bathrooms clean and neat, the showers were fresh smelling, no dirt, no mildew ~ really nice and clean. The only half way negative thing we could say is that there was not a firepit at our RV spot but we ended up going to sleep early anyways so wouldn't have used... Read More

Can't wait to come back again! Just finished three nights. The back-in lots have so much space and you truly are surrounded by wilderness, even considering you're right off the interstate. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful. My only watch-out is that some of the back-in sites are sloped, so it takes a few tries with blocks to get everything level, but it can be done. Enjoy your stay - and thank you! :)
Closest RV park to Charlotte still 14 miles south, this park is adjacent to and affiliated with the Carowinds Amusement Park. A gigantic waterpark and rollercoaster theme park that actually straddles the NC/SC state line (have NO idea how that works) Getting in and out of the resort was no big deal. The RV park is medium sized, with bath houses, a laundry, small general store and swimming pool. The swimming pool, being a part of the Carowinds system was staffed with serious waterpark life guards... Read More

The RV park is medium sized, with bath houses, a laundry, small general store and swimming pool. The swimming pool, being a part of the Carowinds system was staffed with serious waterpark life guards who were doing the full Stevie Wonder swimmer scan. For a park next to WallyWorld, it was relatively quiet in the camping zones. Although most of the RV'ers here were of the toy-hauler, golf-cart needing, weekend-warriors, it stayed pretty mellow. The biggest demerit were the sites themselves. Narrow concrete pad for the rig was not level and everything else was dirt. Dusty when dry and an absolute quagmire when it rains. Road are very narrow and the sites are too small to park your tow vehicle forcing folks to park on the roads. In our case, we needed two adjacent sites to move their trucks to allow us to back in to our site.

We arrived late due to an ice storm. Our packet was waiting and we found our site with ease. Our site was large, easy to set-up on and very nicely located. The shower and other camp supplied facilities were spotless, well layed out, and very user friendly. The desk staff was interested in how our stay went and if there was anything more they could do to make future stays even better. I would recommend this camp ground to anyone especially new campers.
Stayed as an overnite on the way to Atlanta. We arrived late but security told us about box with site assignment and directions in it. Site was large access to electric and water easy. When we got up in the morning and checked out the grounds in daylite we thought it was very nice with cabins one which was handicap accessible. We do hope our next trip will allow us to stay longer.
Nice large sites, clean and excellent wifi. This park is a little pricy for what you get, but we did not find any other campgrounds in the immediate area that had any vacancies. Another annoying factor is that they are listed as a Good Sam park, but did not give us a discount. They charge extra for pull thru's which we did not pay and the back ins were very easy to get into, so not worth paying the extra charge. That being said, it is a very nice park with easy access to all attractions and shopping.... Read More

The staff is wonderful, we had our mail forwarded from home to this park and they delivered to our door when it arrived instead of just calling.

Carowinds is an excellent choice for using as a waypoint when heading north or south. We stayed at Carowinds on our way to and from Florida. The staff is excellent. I only wish I had stayed longer as the RV resort is next to the amusement park and we did not have enough time to check that out. Spaces are long enough but the turns are tricky if you have a big rig. If you are towing a car I would recommend you unhook it in the parking lot before proceeding to your rv spot. If I am ever in Charlotte,... Read More

I just finished a 5 day stay at this campground. What a pleasant experience!!!! Spotless clean facilities, very friendly staff, very clean park for your campers. I would recommend this campground to anyone.
Beautiful campground, very friendly and helpful staff . The only issue that we had was a low-hanging tree over our pull-through site - scary for our three air conditioners. Other sites without low trees were available so not sure why we were put there...
Staff was super nice and Trading Post was large and inviting. Our site was in the ELM area. The sites although paved and spacious needed repaving and leveling. Restrooms were very clean and large. Campground location was within walking distance of the amusement park and close to restaurants in the surrounding area.
We stayed at Carowinds for nearly three weeks in August while being in the Charlotte area for business reasons. The park and staff were outstanding. Facilities are well maintained and clean. We enjoyed the proximity of the park to shopping, dining, entertainment, church, etc. We recommend this park for families as well as empty nesters. We met some friendly and interesting people from all over the US during our stay.
