The Dixie Creek Campground is on the northern tip of the reservoir which is an area PACKED with boaters and day-use patrons during the day time. If you're looking to spend a weekend on the lake with family/kids, this is a great place to camp... but if hiking or just plan relaxation is more your style, go with a different campground. Sites are all paved and level with easy access to hook-ups but don't expect ANY shade (there's only 1 tree in the whole campground). All sites have metal pavilions... Read More
The Dixie Creek Campground is on the northern tip of the reservoir which is an area PACKED with boaters and day-use patrons during the day time. If you're looking to spend a weekend on the lake with family/kids, this is a great place to camp... but if hiking or just plan relaxation is more your style, go with a different campground.
Sites are all paved and level with easy access to hook-ups but don't expect ANY shade (there's only 1 tree in the whole campground). All sites have metal pavilions and fire pits with fold-over grills.
While the park is bustling with people and boats during the day, on a clear night the stargazing is wonderful.
When we stayed, it felt like the campground was more of an overflow for the parking lot than it's own separate space. In my opinion, the campground and the sites are not worth the $40/nt cost.
