`Recently, we camped here for a week. We don't ever post negative reviews like this. The last day, we experienced a violent attack by a very large and aggressive Pit Bull. The Pit Bull did not have a collar or a leash and was accidently let out of the RV to roam free and unsupervised. It immediately ran to our site (4 sites away) and attacked our dog that was tied at the time. The incident was unprovoked. While trying to save our dog, my wife and I were also attacked. All we could think of was what might have happened if our granddaughter had been playing with our dog.
To put it mildly, their existing pet policy is grossly lacking. They never checked what breed of dog or ask to see documentation of shots when we were registering. Yogi Bear Jellystone Park needs to better manage their pet policy to address aggressive dog breeds and ensure the safety of campers. We camped there for seven days and saw multiple sites have more than one large dog, which in many places we've camped at would have been banned due to breed type or size. We have RV'ed extensively across the US and have never seen such careless enforcement of a pet policy regarding aggressive dog breeds. Seriously, think about avoiding this park if you have pets or small children.

Sad to say that after camping in our RV for many years at Jellystone in Gardiner New York, this past Memorial Day 2016 weekend was my family's last. This used to be a nice friendly family owned campground until it was sold to Michigan based Northgate Resorts making it a corporate owned campground. Under corporate ownership the rates have risen higher than any other campground in New York State. You are nickel & dimed to death for every little thing. As with all campgrounds, there are rules to... Read More

This used to be a nice friendly family owned campground until it was sold to Michigan based Northgate Resorts making it a corporate owned campground. Under corporate ownership the rates have risen higher than any other campground in New York State. You are nickel & dimed to death for every little thing.
As with all campgrounds, there are rules to follow which I believe makes for better and safer camping. This campground has a list of rules that are given upon check-in. I was told that if we break any of the rules such as not wearing issued wristbands or move the fire ring, my credit card will be charged $25 for each offense. If you have a young child that happens to lose a wristband they also charge $25 for a replacement. I've been camping for 35 years and this is the first campground where I had to wear a plastic wristband and if I'm found not wearing it, I will be charged $25.
When we were here on Memorial Day weekend, the 10-month old water park was closed the entire time for repairs. When I called the campground office a few days ahead of our arrival I was told the water park would definitely be open for the holiday weekend. When we went to the Tiki Bar for ice cream we were told they didn't have any yet. How can you not have ice cream for a major holiday weekend?
The current top management has very poor customer service skills. When you ask a staff member a question, they cannot answer simple questions about the campground. They need to be trained in customer service skills and campground policy. With the new management in this campground the customer is always WRONG and it is now the campground of NO.
So if you like speeding golf carts, high prices and where the customers are not treated well by the staff, then this is the place for you.

I would like to start by saying we have stayed at this park in the past many times without any issues. Having said that, Recently the park has undergone a major overhaul which would normally be a good thing except now it is very over crowded, long lines at everything because the facilities are no longer adequate for the amount of people the camp ground can accommodate. The staff has grown and apparently they have not been properly trained because if you ask any staff member any questions they... Read More

The new sites up on the hill by the lodge are very far away, in direct sun all day and there are no amenities close at all, not a playground, or even a field for the kids to play in. Because the sites are all gravel and packed so tight there is not a spec of privacy. your neighbor behind you has a fire ring that is about 15' from yours and they cannot be moved. make sure if you book that you do not book on the hill you will be very disappointed as we were that it is the same price as much better and shaded sites closer to everything.
The posted speed limit is meant to be followed by all except of course the staff who blows by in their golf carts at full speed kicking up dust from the new gravel roads as you walk by, they didn't even slow down when they saw us walking with our 10 month old son in his stroller and our girls riding their bikes.
Last but not least, when I called Sunday afternoon (about 2 hours after we left) to speak to a manager to let them know the issues we had, the girl who answered took a message and said he would call me as soon as he is done at the site he was currently at. it is now Tuesday and I still have not gotten a call

This park, as you may be able to tell from it's name, is really geared for families with children. As a matter of fact, it teems with children, most of whom do not, nor are they encouraged by their parents, to realize that there are many vehicles moving around the campground. Even at 5 1/2 MPH, the posted speed, my heart was in my mouth every time I had to pass groups of kids either walking or on bicycles, a few of whom almost ran into the SIDE of my car. The only way in and out of the property... Read More

Even at 5 1/2 MPH, the posted speed, my heart was in my mouth every time I had to pass groups of kids either walking or on bicycles, a few of whom almost ran into the SIDE of my car. The only way in and out of the property is through an area where the kid population is the highest: the water park, game room, camp store, and at least two playgrounds.
Sites are not as spacious as you would expect considering the cost of the campground.
If you are a working parent (and these days, who isn't) and you need to stay in touch with your office/business, forget it. There is no Wi-Fi, except for 10 square feet on the store porch, and Verizon Wireless is nowhere to be seen. When I asked about this, I was told by one of their managers that I should be here on vacation, not trying to work. This is my main beef; I have been to larger and smaller campgrounds that had adequate, if not excellent Wi-Fi, for far less than I paid to stay here. Apparently, they don't care and why should they; the place is full every weekend, so maybe I'm just out of step with reality. Also, I was not offered any Good Sam discount.
Having said all that, the place is clean and well maintained and the staff patrols the area frequently. I won't be staying here again if I can help it.

Hello! We're very sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. Since August, 2015, we have greatly improved many aspects of our park. Our park, however, is a park that is geared towards young families and children. We like to let kids be kids and roam around the park between all of our amenities - this is why we have the 5 1/2 MPH speed limit. Our Wi-Fi has been upgraded since 2015 and now is available at the Ranger Station and throughout the park. We hope this answers your concerns! Again,... Read More
