Typical KOA but no complaints. Adequate spacing, all the essentials. 10 minutes or so to the west gate. It was perfect for what we needed.
We stayed at the West Yellowstone KOA for 14 days. The second part of this review explains my low review. KOA is located just 8 miles from the entrance of Yellowstone which seems to be the justification for the cost and is surrounded on 3 sides with cows and pasture. Located just off US 20, you will get some road noise, especially if you back up to the highway (we did not). The park is like a small town given the number of rv, tent and cabins and the abundance of workers throughout the park. And... Read More

And if you have kids, there seems to be quite a lot of activities for them, including the large indoor pool.
We were warmly greeted when we arrived and proceeded to our site without escort. We were on the deluxe pull through sites that were terraced on a slight slope. As a result, the leveling of the sites was not great and the best I could find was a 2.5 degree pitch to the drivers side and then had significant leveling to do. The facilities were crowded in the morning and evening (laundry and bathroom) but adequate as were the utilities. They also had a small dog park – the only place with a dog waste station. WiFi was the exception as it was basically useless - was explained to us at check in given the number of people accessing it. There is decent T-Mobile and Verizon signal. I would rate this park a 3.7 comparing it to the dozens of parks we have stayed in during the past year.
Why a one star review? Three days before arriving at the park, my wife had an incident requiring surgery and left her unable to drive the vehicle (which is not towable). Not going into great detail (already provided feedback to the park and corporate), absolutely no compassion was shown for us when asking for a small 48 hour accommodation for our vehicle. And a side note, the overflow lot was basically empty the day we left.
Although I would like to call him out in this review, I won’t but his response was simply this “Make other arrangements (for the car) or stay else where.” Seriously? Obviously did not grasp how difficult this is when dealing with a shattered ankle. Like we planned this to happen, or it is a good thing to move someone with recent surgery, or we have the flexibility during the 4th of July week to pack up and find a new place. So my plan will be to never stay here again in the future and let others know of our experience here. Be sure to read other reviews which have similar negative ratings. They don’t care about the people.
I should have been prepared for this treatment since another customer was in the office indicating he was “demeaned and belittled” by one of the employees for an honest mistake on the check out time. Stayed in a KOA the night before and mixed it up but the employee was aggressive in his verbal beat down. Sad this KOA treats people who stay regularly at KOAs this way.

We had issues with our tow vehicle and the staff was nice enough to shuffle around in the middle of their busiest season and find one more night for us. PLUS they towed us to the other site for the extra night since our tow vehicle was in the shop. They were very kind and understanding. Kamp K9 was nice. Wish we had had time to use the pool, but could tell it was warm! Nice short 6 mile distance to downtown West Yellowstone (grocery stores, etc.)
West Gate KOA, West Yellowstone, MT. What a nice RV Park. Clean showers and bathrooms, friendly staff, nice store and laundry, and an enclosed pool were just some of the high points and amenities. The only problem was that we spent all our time in Yellowstone, which was only 6 miles away, that we didn't get to enjoy all this park had to offer. We also enjoyed the coffee shop but missed the pancake breakfast they offered each morning. While you do pay more at KOA, you get what you pay for...Great... Read More

Have I to say this place is overrated on GoodSam site. Not at all what we expected. Packed in like sardines. Old rundown facilites. Nicer places to stay in the area.
Almost famous ribs? Lets work on that. Nice place. We did not use the indoor pool but it looked nice. This is a big park, but its is near Yellowstone. Breakfast is served everyday and is a good value. Restrooms and showers are clean and nice. It was particularly nice chatting with all the student workers from around the world.
We arrived at yellowstone a day early and they had a space for us. It is a huge park, with lots of people but had a nice set up with a pool and putt putt golf. 6 miles to yellowstone park, nice choice for families. They had separated showers did have to wait in line few minutes in morning.
This is a huge KOA! They have a cafe that is open in the morning for coffee, a restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. The gift shop sells fudge and many other tourist gifts and a small amount of groceries. There are two grocery stores in West Yellowstone but they are quite pricy. Our site was terraced with a fire pit and swing. It was not level but it was shaded. The location of the dog park is terrible! It's right in the middle in front of bathrooms and the showers. The location of the dog park is terrible! It's right in the middle in front of bathrooms and the showers. There is very little grass so it was easier to just walk our dogs on the perimeter where there was grass. There are plenty of other spaces available that would work better for a dog park.
If you need internet, forget it! It's horrible!
The indoor pool was COLD! The hot tub was supposedly for people 14 and older it it was sporadically enforced.
There aren't too many choices when visiting Yellowstone NP and this one worked for us.

Bathroom was really dirty and I cannot say how bad toilet areas were any time of day - doubt had been cleaned in way over 24 hours left early because of that was refused refund
