Great for dry camping if you can't get a reservation in the North Rim camground inside GCNP or the Demotte campground just outside GCNP. Pit toilets, firepits, and firewood for purchase from the campground host are the only amenities other than a nearby store, gift shop, gas station, and coffee shop. The drive to Jacob Lake from either direction is quite scenic and the drive from Jacob Lake to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is special, particularly in Fall. Great for dry camping if you can't get a reservation in the North Rim camground inside GCNP or the Demotte campground just outside GCNP. Pit toilets, firepits, and firewood for purchase from the campground host are the only amenities other than a nearby store, gift shop, gas station, and coffee shop. The drive to Jacob Lake from either direction is quite scenic and the drive from Jacob Lake to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is special, particularly in Fall. Watch for wildlife and cattle, especially early morning or twilight.
Sites are gravel and seem very level, if not spacious. Dust can be a problem from passing vehicles in one's loop. Quiet at night since the campground is not on a busy highway. Temps are usually 10-20 degrees cooler than those on the South Rim, so be prepared for chilly nights and mornings.
