The camp owners are super friendly. They hold everyone to their camp rules. It is nice to know that my children are safe riding their bikes down the road. The sites are clean and the lawns are taken care of. Their camp store has the basic essentials. The pool is a little small but well maintained and again they ensure all rules are followed. I have never seen campground bathrooms that are as clean as theirs. I would highly recommend this campground if you are looking for a nice and quiet... Read More

If you are looking for a campground that finds and creates entertainment for you and your kids, this isn't the place. They have a small pool and a small playground. But the opportunities are endless for you to create your own family bond time on the beach.

This should be a 10/10/10 campground! Gorgeous Campground on the Beach! We did our due diligence prior to choosing a campground and so glad we did! The campground is maliciously maintained, restrooms spotless and the beach a 2 minute walk. The campground store had everything we ran out of and forgot! The pool was shockingly clean. The sites are a generous 2000 sq feet. We have a 41 DP and toad. We fit with room. It's quiet. The owners are friendly and went our of their way to make our stay perfect!... Read More

To those who complained - did you check the other campgrounds? They charge more than double. There's no tree's. when the wind blows the sand does too. It looked like a parking lot over there when we checked. The dune is not that high this year. People don't realize you can't mess with God and mother nature. That dune protects the camper's from being pelted with sand as well. The beach is also mother nature and it's gorgeous this year. I can't wait to return to OWC. By the way, I asked about the soap and paper towel; it was being stolen and used to clog toilets but they do have hand sanitizer in every bathhouse. I will be a returning soon!

In my view this campground isn't worth what they charge. they do offer campsites with full hook ups, and it is sort of on the beach. You have to trek over this 4 story sand dune to get to it (there's no walkway, or steps; just a well traveled path in mushy unpacked sand), and once you have survived hiking of Mt. Rodanthe, the beach is so narrow you hardly have room to put your things down before some idiot with a 4 wheel drive truck wants to drive where you're sitting. I really wanted a campground... I really wanted a campground with access to the beach. There is a beach access place down the road a bit where the beach is a little more accessible. The camp sites are all level with paved pads for your camper. There is lots of well manicured grass, feels nice under your feet. The hook ups were well maintained, and appropriately placed for easy hook up. The bath house was cleanish, but still adequate, and reasonably equipped to be able to do what you needed to do in there. The campground staff were nice enough on check in, but don't dare set any mats, coolers, sewer hoses, lawn chairs on that grass. They are not shy about reminding you of this as they drive through on their little putt putt golf cart. We stayed 5 days, spent as little time as possible in the campground. I'm not opposed to staying here again, it just won't be my first choice, or my second. It's saving grace that keeps it in my list of places to possibly stay in the future is that there's a Dairy Queen across the road from it.

Centrally located and next to beach. Nice and clean but small spaces almost on top of each other. Staff friendly. Restroom were clean but had no soap or towels. Showers had no place to put your clothes or shower items. Ok for price.
This camp ground is a family run business. Someone had suggested we stay vs another campground. Sure glad we did. Very nice grounds, short walking distance to the beach. we had a very nice shady spot so no need to use our awning. Met some great people, most of these campers are people who have been coming to Ocean Waves for 10 - 20 years, so that alone can tell you something of the camp gorund. They are strict with all there rules, no loud music or noise after 10pm, speed limit 5mph that include... Read More

They are strict with all there rules, no loud music or noise after 10pm, speed limit 5mph that include golf carts. If you caught breaking the rules they will ask you to leave on the spot. This made our eight day stay very enjoyable. Besides another couple we were the only new campers to be camping there. Now if you really like a camp ground where you can relax and enjoy your stay, I recommend Ocean Waves at the Outer Banks of NC.
