Note: this RV campground is under new ownership, name has changed to Blue Ridge Falls RV Park (fka Riverbend). This RV campground is a true gem. Small, uncrowded, quiet. Sites are not on top of each other, and many have shrub or tree barriers speaking of trees, most sites are shaded most of the day from hot summer sun. A nice feature here is their daily social gathering in their covered pavilion with wood-burning fireplace, beginning at 5pm at the sound of the bell. Outdoor kitchen next to the pavilion for guests and the occasional park event. And, pricing was competitive making for good value. Accommodates RVs from 14ft to 40+ft trailers and motorhomes, level gravel sites.
Don't miss the Friday evening dinner/music/social gatherings at the nearby Lake Toxaway Community Center, within walking distance. There are a number of restaurant choices within 5 to 30 min drive spanning a variety of cuisines and prices, some with live music and NC beers. The Grand Olde Station just a few minutes drive away wound up being one of our very favorites, with outstanding food and a couple of the best bar mixologists we've seen in western NC.
We stayed for one month mid-June to mid-July, and enjoyed meeting many of the campers that stay for a few days to a few months. This is a great basecamp location for hiking, exploring the nearby towns & golf courses, escaping from the summer heat far away, or hunting for a home to buy like we did. The owners and their kids set this place apart with their friendly hospitality, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Be aware that there is no off-leash fenced in dog area, perhaps the thing we missed the most at this campground for our retired racer greyhounds to exercise in, chasing balls and playing with other dogs if your dog is well behaved and not prone to running away, there is a nearby large livestock field for them to go off-leash. No firepits, but we used a portable wood-burning Solo Stove.
We surely will be back to this campground again in the future for RV meetups with friends who visit us in NC.
