3 weeks prior to our arrival in Albuquerque I booked a full- hookup site at this campground. While traveling, we ran into horrible traffic on highway 40 and it took us 4 hours to drive 6 miles. While in traffic, I received a very friendly call from the campground asking if we were still coming as the office was closing. I apologized and assured her that we were on our way, but it would be late (at that point, my gps said 1030pm arrival). She told me that it would be fine and that there were 2 different... Read More

I apologized and assured her that we were on our way, but it would be late (at that point, my gps said 1030pm arrival). She told me that it would be fine and that there were 2 different w/e sites that we could choose from. I reminded her of the fact that I had paid for full-hookup. She apologized and said that they had several unexpected stay- overs and were full and gave me a full- refund. She called me back about 10 mins later and told me that someone had parked their car in one of the 2 sites and couldn't find the key leaving us with no other option but one back- in w/e site. We agreed to this option, especially since it was a single night stopover. She was very pleasant and let me know that I could call upon my arrival if I needed any assistance. By the time we made it there, it was just after midnight and we were exhausted. When we arrived at the site, the hook-ups were on the wrong side which would necessitate us running the hose and power cord under the camper. My husband attempted to back into the site where the trees on both sides were against the travel trailer and we would be unable to open our slide. I attempted to call for assistance and received no answer. It is now after 1 a.m., we have 4 cranky kids that have been in the car all day and 2 exhausted drivers. We ended up calling the nearby KOA journey who very graciously helped us to get a site in the middle of the night. I feel that I was very understanding and accommodating to the issues that were not my fault in the slightest.

Pleasant sign in and guided to site. Good sites with space. Very quiet and peaceful. Could use some maintenance of additional rock on sites and roads. Almost no water pressure. Showering will take a l-o-o-o-o-n-g time. Like the location.
Very nice quiet park. Friendly staff.
I picked this campground because it was so close to Sandia Crest and after speaking with the Lady that runs the place, I was sold. The Good... - Quiet little campground off the main drag and in the shadow of a mountain. Trees, cool breeze, quiet. - Super Nice Lady running the place!! - The Sandia Crest overlook is just a couple of miles and is a must see! Don't go that far and not go up the mountain. It overlooks Albuquerque, wonderful. The Not so Good... - This was our first experience with... Read More

The Not so Good...
- This was our first experience with 'pay to take a shower'. This campground uses tokens. Well we got there late and in the hustle and bustle of check in, didn't get tokens. No problem, showered in the camper. Bathroom / Shower was small but clean. Maybe a token dispenser could be installed?
Final thoughts...Great place! I'd stay there again and be happy about it!
