The staff are really friendly and the people all seem to actually like their jobs and they are happy to help.
Check in is at the hotel registration desk.
The utilities here rock.
The services are newer and in great working order.
Electric pedestals are clean, clearly marked and the outlets have a secure fit.
The sewer hookup is a bit elevated as some are so pitch in the last 2 feet is pretty flat but draining just fine.
Water pressure is great and the water is clean.
They have excellent wifi here and we haven't even had to turn on the Hotspot for Internet or TV.
They have cable TV here too with a wide variety of channels which I'm sure are great but we haven't needed it.
The sites are flat and needed only minor leveling.
One thing they didn't think about was placement of the trees at each site. The trees prevent opening any awnings. Not a big deal.
Each site has an acceptable and clean picnic table as well.
We travel the country hitting casino's. We have had a ball here.
We find the odds of winning to be good and we are currently on the plus side.
The casino allows smoking and the smoke and smells are well under control.
The restaurant food and staff are super with excellent prices and huge portions.
The place is conveniently located to most all towns one might want to visit.
Today we went to Stateline. About 35 mins. away.
Tomorrow we hit Reno. Again about 45 mins..
We plan to follow up with Incline Village and Virginia City. All pretty close.
So from some that do this on a regular basis we can tell you this is a great place to stay and we hope you'll have the same experience as us,
Good Luck

We enjoyed our stay here - the RV area is convenient to the casino and restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Average RV park right off the highway. Good place to crash for the night.
We wanted to see Lake Tahoe and Virginia City and Carson City was the best central location. When we checked in there was no one at the RV park but a sign on the door said to register at the hotel across the parking lot. We got registered and found our way to our site. The sites are very very close. We felt like an Oreo and we were the cream center. We tried to make the best of it. No one ever came around to check on anyone in the area. I wish Good Sam would relate this park. It is certainly not up to their rating.

When I made my reservations, they were told that we have a 36ft 5th wheel. When we got to the RV park there is a sign that tells you to sign in at the hotel (across the parking lot) I asked how tall their driveway cover was, because I wasn't able to tell from far away, if we would be able to drive the trailer under it. She didn't know. I walked over and was checked in. Went back to the RV park and wasn't able to get into the space because it is impossible to make that tight of a u-turn, to the... Read More

She didn't know. I walked over and was checked in. Went back to the RV park and wasn't able to get into the space because it is impossible to make that tight of a u-turn, to the right, without taking out a tree. It didn't help that campsites were very tight with little space between them and the campers had their cars in the street, beyond their spaces. Went back to tell them and they said they didn't have any other spots. Actually there were several back in spots they could have given us, but didn't. I asked for a receipt that shows a credit to my visa, because we weren't staying. The lady told me she couldn't give me one. Then her manager said he would help me and gave me the credit to my card. Never did either the lady or the manager try to work something out for us. Very disappointing, that when you make a reservation, in advance and when you get there they don't have a spot for you!! We are at the end of a month and a half trip and never had this problem!!

Nice paved sites. The are a little tight. My sewer hose almost under my neighbors table. It is a little inconvenient to have to register at the hotel. There is no staff in park office. Overall a nice clean place
I've stayed at Gold Dust West RV park many, many times over the last four+ years˜of owning a travel trailer. It definitely falls into the category of RV park that was built before today's super-sized rigs but it's workable. We can unhook and park the truck perpendicular in front of the trailer without encroaching upon anyone else's space -- as you'll see others do as well. It is tight for our 52' of equipment, though. Plus, there's plenty of nearby overflow parking if you need it. The desk staff... Read More

Plus, there's plenty of nearby overflow parking if you need it.
The desk staff is friendly and helpful. They often have to be apologetic for the facility's maintenance issues -- rightfully so. Incredibly simple things like damaged electrical towers and missing spigot t-handles are not addressed in between our frequent visits. So you have to know which sites have issues in advance or stop by and inspect them before committing to a site if you don't want to have to move multiple times to find one with everything in working order.˜
You will deal with noise from the freeway and access ramp. That's just˜the breaks you have to put up with for the location. That's a little more aggravating if˜you like to enjoy outside time like we do. Inside our trailer, the noise is largely a non-issue.
I˜give them good marks for amenities. If you need a fitness center, they offer it to the RV park dwellers. And being someone who has to do physical therapy constantly, having that space is a major bonus. I don't need their weight machines, but I do use the treadmill in bad weather and having access to a decent amount of˜floor space to do my other exercises and yoga is really nice.˜
The bath-house is *always* immaculate so high marks there. The laundry facility is clean and tidy, but prices are˜a bit on the smart side for the small, old-school, clunky, agitator˜washing˜machine offerings. But they do work and˜it's convenient. Not having to schlep to a laundromat is a big deal.
The location is good, especially if you know Carson. It's very easy to get to everything Carson City has to offer. The taqueria across the street is brilliant and walking distance to groceries and good food. But if you venture over to Centro Market just east the freeway, I'll vouch their tacos are better. Tractor Supply next door to GDW has a great supply of dog food and propane so you don't have to go far for those supplies. The Grille in the casino is a nice respite from RV meal prep. And the pie is really good.
Overall the park is really good but˜not great when considering the slightly-high price given˜their maintenance issues˜and limitations. Bang for the buck is the bottom line, right?˜Given the limited options in the Carson City˜area, I still feel GDW has the best value and set up. Solid but not perfect. But far better than the other nearby parks and˜without being as far out as Reno or Minden. So in spite of a few˜challenges, it's still my go-to as a full-timer/former-local who has our house-load of crap stored in the area that we need to visit and manage on occasion.˜

This place is a dump. 1. All grass next to sites is dead and overgrown. 2. Trash all over. No one has picked up for months. 3. Rates on website are incorrect. When questioned was told they were "summer rates". However, as standing at the counter to check-in, their promotional TV loop showed the same $36 rate as the web site. They made me wait so they could see the slide showing the rates to see if there was any fine print. They volunteered to give us the $36 rate. 4. They have an age... Read More

4. They have an age limit on the RV's in the park. We were within the time frame, but their web site should show that so that travelers with older (older than 2005) RVs do not stop. Once we arrived at our site (mistake for not looking at the park first), that standard was an absolute joke based on the condition of the park.
5. Not once did we see anyone maintaining the property (2-night stay).
6. Dog run is dirt (5' wide) with foot-tall weeds and poop.
Pros - nice small casino with good restaurant.

I am being generous with a three rating. I am disappointed with Good Sam's 9-10 rating. They need to re visit this facility and update the ratings.

Perfect place to park and sleep in Carson City. Easy access from US 395. Just the basics-paved pads, full hookups, picnic table, but clean and in good repair. Great restrooms-heated! Small, enclosed dog run. Laundry too, but we did not use it. Casino entertainment and restaurants next door. Reasonably priced with a Good Sam discount (present card at check-in). It's not a park for relaxing outdoors, and there is background highway noise, but it is perfect for stopovers.

We arrived in the late afternoon after a long hot, drive across the Nevada desert only to discover that check-in is at the hotel lobby which is about 100 yards from the entrance to the RV park, through the hotel parking lot. Once inside the hotel, we were served by an officious clerk. I had booked two sites next to each other, 5 months in advance. The spaces we were assigned were one site apart. I was told that they never guarantee sites together. Yet, the space between us remained empty during our stay of one night. Further, I was billed 3 nights ($37, $89 & $89) for a one night stay! When I got home, I called the toll free line, which was not a valid number, to sort out the billing errors at my expense and the phone call was lengthy.
The RV spaces are close together. The roads are narrow and difficult to maneuver when arriving and departing. There is not enough room to reasonably park your tow vehicle. Our "pull through sites" were too short to leave our trucks hitched to our trailers. Our site was filthy. I cleaned up trash including a pizza box, paper trash and medical gloves.
The pool and amenities are all in the hotel which is at least 100 yards away through the steamy hot parking lot, smelly lobby and smoky casino.
As we drove out of Carson City, we saw other parks which are much nicer. Do not be misled by the Good Sam endorsement and the Trip Advisor award of excellence for 2016-2017. This park is not excellent. The picture of this campground is misleading. We highly recommend that you stay in another park.

After 9 hours on the road I thought this would be a good break. Turned out that it was, but just for a pit stop if you require hookups. The spots are really small and packed in tightly next to each other. Parking for your tow vehicle or dinghy is possible next to your rig, but you'll be doing so either on your 2 ft strip of paint on the asphalt marking your "yard" or sticking out into the drive. Worst case you can park outside of the RV Park in the adjacent main casino parking area. The RV... Read More

Worst case you can park outside of the RV Park in the adjacent main casino parking area. The RV Park is at the far corner of the hotel parking lot, yet check-in is at the main hotel entrance. Signs are not obvious in terms of checking in -- your best option is to actually pull up where hotel guests check in vs heading to where you'd assume RV check in would be.

Good place to stay if you don't want to spend much time in your RV. Very basic park - tightly packed spaces. restrooms and laundry facilities are great. Didn't use the pool because it was inside the casino's hotel. WIFI and cable were good. If you wish to gamble, it's right next to a casino.
We stayed here for about a week and enjoyed the park. The sites are a bit tight, but are clearly marked, paved and have grass, trees, and picnic table. Great location to explore Carson city, Reno, and Lake Tahoe. We stayed here in a 40' mh and would definitely stay again.
I cannot understand how this rv site has such a high Good Sam rating. The customer service alone should make it no more than a 5 rated park. The size of the narrow roads, the size of the slots for the RV, the big boulders they use, the lack of trimming trees, the lack of knowledge the check in people have in regards to the RV park bring it down. A person parks there rv by the park building then has to walk to the hotel registration to get registered. That alone should be a red flag. They are... Read More

They are trained for hotel knowledge not about the park. They have no working knowledge of the park other than their little map.
They should at least mention that a person should unhock their tow before entering this very small park. They should also mention about the narrow slots, rocks and trees. They really also need a person to guide a coach to their assigned slot and make certain the roads in are passable to it.
I had to ask 2 existing campers to move their vehicles so I could get down the road to the assigned slot. Should have asked a 3rd person but even that may not have helped.
The slot assigned could not be pulled into little thru as advertised. Just to narrow with the electrical island and the big boulder on the opposite side.
We decided to back into one of the back in sites but they all had tree branches that would scrape our coach. Finally decided to back into the original slot assigned. It was one of the very few with not tree branch issues.
The RV manager flatly said they do not trim trees...what kind of service is that?????
We later saw another big rig pull in, look at the tree situation and pulled out and left.
Would I recommend this part...no.no.no!
Would I stay there again...absolutely not.!
