This is a neat state park! It has been redone to include more spots and there are two sections. The front section is all paved and has a few pull throughs. It is certainly for bigger rigs and has easier access than the back section. We came in our 30'TT pulled by an F250. When we got to our site in the BACK section, I wasn't sure we could back in. Most of the sites in the back are perpendicular and not angled to the road. They are also narrow and the road isn't very wide. After a few runs... Read More

We came in our 30'TT pulled by an F250. When we got to our site in the BACK section, I wasn't sure we could back in. Most of the sites in the back are perpendicular and not angled to the road. They are also narrow and the road isn't very wide. After a few runs I was able to back in. The back section is the older campground and was redone when the front was added, but I actually like it more. Almost all of the sites are secluded from those around it by florida trees and scrub. A lot of these also back up to the Dune lake. Very cool.
The site was gravel, very flat and had full hookups toward the side. There was also a nice picnic table and a place to either hang a clothes line or hammock. My kiddos opted for the latter.
Bikes are a necessity here, and they make everything better. The campground is suited for them and it also makes the nearby food and stores readily accessible for you. The beach is extremely close but likely means taking a vehicle if you plan on taking the mandatory chairs, umbrellas and the like - its a pretty good hike. You can also bike to the beach and there are racks for them.
The beach is fantastic and not as crowded as Destin or Seaside, since those not staying here have to pay to enter. For us, this was the hidden gem since we could distance ourselves better. The park also closes at night to entrance except for those staying here, so walks on the beach in the evening are perfect. Just be aware that since its a state park flashlights aren't permitted here because of turtles, nor is live shelling permitted... so no ghost crab hunting.
The only downside to this park besides the tough parking in the back section, and also the MOSQUITOS. Make sure you come prepared. If we come again we will come with more sprays and a net tent to go over our picnic table. They are the worst I have every encoutered.
