We have stayed a month at this resort. Upon arrival we were told our reserved site no longer had working electricity so we were given a 'value' site and a refund of the difference. We were escorted to our site and I have to say, for a value site, it was quite nice. We were mostly shaded and among the long term park models. Nice people all around us. Only an occasional overnight on our left side. Many of the sites are pretty tight, not much room to spare. The people we met didn't seem to mind,... Read More

The people we met didn't seem to mind, many had been coming here for years and knew each other. Park models or fifth wheels or RVs, people are mostly here for several months and they all keep coming back. Everyone is mixed in together, park models and RVs. The roads are in good shape and well marked. The residents organize various activities like dinners, horseshoe and shuffleboard tournaments, groups that golf together and other activities. There is a large hall for events, very nice, always something going on there. Our experience, being the new kids on the block, found the people friendly wherever we went. If you walk around you'll be engaged in conversation. The ONLY complaint we have about our stay is the bathrooms. I don't see how Good Sam gave them an 8, except that they are reasonably clean. There are two bathrooms, old and new. The old one is not heated which is uncomfortable in February. There's a heater but it's been disconnected for a long time and there are many vents to the outside that don't close. 2 of 3 men's room toilets have been dissembled and so is 1 of 2 urinals. 2 of 4 showers are blocked off and the water temp, after 5 minutes of waiting (sinks or showers), is tepid, on a good day. I tried twice and never went back to it. The new bathroom is heated, 1 of 2 showers is working, the other has been closed all week. The lights are on only when it's dark, no light switch. The water for the first 2 weeks was also tepid to cold. We complained a couple of times and they finally turned it up where you can run it straight hot and be comfortable. The other residents use their own facilities so I guess the priority for repair is low. We have enjoyed our stay here, except for the bathrooms. There are some fishing lakes (catch and release) and I managed to catch a few small ones. There are gators here and they do wander between the lakes at night. I've seen them in the water when I've been fishing but they've not bothered me. Residents don't seem to mind them and many take pictures, but I give them lots of respect. There are Florida SandHill Cranes that wander the streets, they're about 4-5' fall. They are not shy around people but i's best not to feed them, they can be moody. I don't think we'll come back here but I'm not totally ruling it out. It's 20 minutes to WDW, shopping and movie theaters, Kissimmee and a little further to Orlando. It's about 6 miles off I-4. You can canoe and kayak at Shingle Creek on Hwy 192, about 9 miles, not far away from the resort but traffic can be heavy. We've really enjoyed that creek, very pleasant and quiet except for the occasional small plane. Parking close to the launch area and they have rentals.
