What can I say. I booked a night's stay (Sunday), They asked type and length, and I told them fifth wheel 43 foot. She said she had pull thru. I arrived about 45 minutes later. Campground had a restaurant at the entrance and the only way into the park is through the restaurant parking lot which was full of double rows of parked cars. I had to make a hard left turn and pass between cars with only about a 9-foot driveway. Travel to the end of the row of cars to make another hard turn to the right... Read More

Travel to the end of the row of cars to make another hard turn to the right to actually get into the campground proper. There were several empty spots apparently for overnighters while about 90% of the park was permanents. They put me on the 2nd row and again a very TIGHT turn around a tree on very narrow but at least paved road then down just a short ways to my assigned site. The site was grass but level. Could NOT leave truck connected since the site barely fit in the site. Strange setup with sewer inlet being right in front of neighbor's door. On the positive each site did have a wooden picnic table luckily, the site on my door side was vacant so I was able to park my truck there. Electric was good and water pressure was about 40 PSI so no pressure reducer was needed. On leaving, I was lucky in that several campers had left out earlier, so I was able to make the turns to exit the park. Th roads were so narrow I had to swing wide into what would have been another site in order to get out of my site. Small campers would not have problems, but Big Rigs BEWARE. We camped at Southern Retreat RV Park in a Fifth Wheel

Can't believe this is allowed to be a Good Sam campground. Long term permanent homesteaders, most are dump looking, all sorts of bins, junk, coolers, ice boxes sitting around, say 5 mph but speeders that are long term. Vehicles come and go all hours at night to include a roll back tow truck. Pedestal some are only standing because water lines holding. Men's bathroom all 3 shower heads broken, the night light over the women bathroom out over 5 months. Low hanging tree limbs and lots of dead limbs... Read More

Long waits because no staff to work. Speaking of staff, the office staff are horrible, put small travel trailers in big sites, motorhome in sites they don't fit. Turn over staff is horrible.

We stayed overnight at Southern Retreat with a 22' Forest River TT and even though it was short , we walked the entire campgrounds a couple times with our greyhound. Our site was level, manicured and check in was friendly. We liked the layout of their pool in sight from front office -even though parents were required with children.. The restrooms were very clean and modern. There was a great pet area.. and a lot of families. A couple canals with foot bridges and lots of space for games/sports.... Read More

We didn't get to try Fran's and thought a restaurant on site was a great idea! Nice are with covered picnic tables.. great for groups! Rates were reasonable and this is one campground we would definitely come back to enjoy a longer stay.

Friendly staff, but park old and tired. Electric post was exposed plug with no cover, Cable tv was a male end so I couldnt hook up. Site was super tight, couldn't extend awning. Sewer was at rear of site so you need a long hose. Very weak wifi, gave up trying to do email and did it over phone. Roads tight .Easy off 95 and Flying J right up the road for fuel.
Have stayed here in the past, really convenient just off I95. New name this year, new owners seem to really care about the place, have cleaned it up, put up fencing, new dog park, changed up the office - looks great. Still same friendly staff. Had breakfast in the restaurant, new owner Mario introduced himself and welcomed us. Will definitely return
Very quiet and clean. Everyone was friendly, especially new owner and front desk. We had vehicle issues and they helped us fix it so we could get home. They were both so kind and helped make our stay amazing!! I know this park has had it's issues in the past but the new owner is making everything better!! We would definitely stay again.
