America’s Fishing Port and Whale Watch Capital of the World.
Gloucester offers a number of fun attractions and Cape Ann Camp Site is in the center of it all. As the jewel of Cape Ann, Gloucester is both America’s Fishing Port and the Whale Watch Capital of the World.
Welcome to Gloucester, the Jewel of Cape Ann
We're America’s Fishing Port and the Whale Watch Capital of the World, with many white-sand beaches and historical sites all around us. Just minutes from Rockport and Salem, MA and 1 hour north of Boston. Magic awaits!
We stayed here for eight days in a 35' Class A with toad. We ended up in a back in site close to the main road. We stayed here due to proximity to Boston, Salem, Plymouth, etc. We had a view of the bay (?) and it was nice to see the tidal flow and birds, deer, etc. Generally a problem free stay. Had we been home during the day I think the traffic stopping in front of our site due to it's proximity to the exit would have bothered me. We weren't home, just viewed it on camera. Site was not... Site was not level. That was the only issue that I observed for half a dozen other campers as they came and went during our stay. It would be AMAZING if they would level / grade and gravel the dozen or so sites near the entrance. Some grooming would have boosted this from a three star to a five star. It all fairness I never drove past the office / dumpster during our entire visit so I cannot speak for the rest of the park. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future.

We have a T@G - ~13 ft. Upon arrival our campsite had been changed - for the better. Nonetheless a large rock (And there are a lot of them) and small tree stumps made it a real challenge to back into our site. Once in the site it was clean and level - ground with lots of pine needles. This campground is located about 1 mile from a great beach, and not far from downtown Gloucester. We were horrified when we went into town the first time - traffic was backed up about a mile... so we drove... Read More

This campground is located about 1 mile from a great beach, and not far from downtown Gloucester. We were horrified when we went into town the first time - traffic was backed up about a mile... so we drove into the visitor center and there we learned that the drawbridge was the problem. By the time we left the traffic had cleared and we parked on the other side of the bridge just as it was opening again for boat traffic. Don't be spooked by the waiting cars. Once down the traffic moves quickly and parking is readily available.
Camp staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The showers - I've seen better and a lot worse. But they worked and despite being pay-for it was 25 cents for 5 minutes and that was really cheap. Bathrooms were OK. Camp store actually had block ice! There's a farm stand just about 2 minutes away.
All in all it was a pleasant stay.
