We found Paul B. Johnson state park to be a gem of a place. It is laid out along the west bank of a moderately sized lake and offers lake related activities (rental canoes, fishing etc.). Most of the camp sites either back up to the lake or are across the road and thus have a lake view. Most of the sites were very spacious consistent with other state parks (vs. commercial campgrounds). The park is far enough away from the nearby U.S. highway 49 that road noise was not noticeable. It is also within about 15 minutes of Interstate 59. We were only passing through and able to spend a single evening after travelling all day however we will definitely go back and spend at least a full day in the future.

My wife and I really enjoy staying at Paul B Johnson State Park this park is only 107 miles from our house and we go down every month and stay at least 8 to 10 days the staff is very friendly and helpful always have a view of the water really enjoyed fishing this year if I could I would stay here more often than just once a month. This to me is the most beautiful campground in the state of Mississippi very clean and very friendly people we have met.
One of the most beautiful and relaxing campgrounds we have visited throughout the United States. Clean, friendly staff, wonderful vistas, water, tall trees, no bugs .... just breathtaking. Hook-up facilities were conveniently located and parking was an ease. The water vistas were fantastic; there were pits for bonfires, tables and grills on the site. If this were anywhere near our home, we would be there every weekend.
