Nicely maintained park next to amusement park. We visited when the amusement section was still closed. Water,electric,restrooms,--all in good order and well maintained. Easy access to city and staff was very helpful
The Takeaway: a modern clean rv park with well maintained grounds located within the grounds of a true resort in the country's heartland. There are more than enough dining choices in the nearby Worlds of Fun Park with amusement rides, a water park, roller coasters, etc. The rv park bathrooms were spotless and spacious with an adjoining laundry room. All paved roads with adequate turning radius coupled with concrete level pads add to the ambiance of this campground. Visited May 2019. For a more detailed... Read More

Nice park but LOTS of noise. One side of park has roller coaster next to it and the other side of the park has a BUSY road with truck traffic all night long. Take the roller coaster side if possible. The road noise is unbearable.
A very nice RV park located in a convenient location just a few minutes from the ballpark and downtown. The park is adjacent to the water park and amusement park. The sites are fully paved, long and each has a picnic table. The park has a nice pool area next to the check in buildings. That building also has the bathrooms, showers and laundry. The wifi was strong and reliable. This park was above and beyond as far as price versus amenities. Pictures on our blog at thegilliamsisland.
We arrived during the week while the amusement park was closed. Two negatives: 1) Campground backs up to I-435. That lends to plenty of traffic noise around the clock. 2) Only 3 washers and 3 dryers (1 dryer ooc). That's it. If you get past that, it is a great park. Our last day night there, the amusement park was open and you could hear the roller coasters and screams. To be expected. I believe it all ended around 11:00pm. Park slopes down to the southwest but every site was level and... Read More

Our last day night there, the amusement park was open and you could hear the roller coasters and screams. To be expected. I believe it all ended around 11:00pm. Park slopes down to the southwest but every site was level and large. Nice job with the landscaping, at least where we were, by planting small trees to aid in privacy between sites. Trash receptacles provided for each site. Camp store well stocked but pricey. Office staff very nice and accommodating. Office staff warned us about the cable not being very good but we had absolutely no problems and cable was great as well (Keep in mind the camp was maybe 20% occupied most of the time we were there). Close to sight seeing. NE Parvin Rd (road that gives access to campground) is under construction and a little tight with semi-truck traffic. Overall, nice relaxing stay. Oh, washers and dryers were $1.75 per cycle.

We rate this park one of the highest. We have a 39 foot motorhome and there were no problems navigating the park or getting into or out of our spot. The park was very well designed and landscaped. Spots were level and the WIFI worked great.
The site was a nice elevated concrete pad. There is enough room between campers, but I was very annoyed by the entrance gatehouses. When pulling a big rig, the combination of the entrance gates and the cones afterwards make maneuvering difficult.
This park was a nice surprise in such an urban area. Beautiful large concrete pads that are terraced down the hillside for a little more privacy. Trash pick up daily at a receptacle at each campsite. Very nice and large pool ,though the hours are too limited. Hard to figure out the entrance because it is shared with the park traffic. Check in was a breeze. Baths and laundry were top notch. Everything was clean and pristine with beautiful landscaping. We were there when the adjoining amusement park... Read More

Loved that it was so close to so KC and neighboring historical towns. We will definitely stop here when we are traveling through. TIP...try to get a site high in the campground away from the road for a much better experience.

We stayed 4 nights to see some attractions in the area. The park is a short drive from I-435 (Exit 54: Parvin Rd) along a 4 lane paved road that was in good condition. In order to access the park, you have to go through the amusement park's toll booth and pay the parking fee. The fee is refunded at check in if you have the receipt. Sounds pretty complicated. The park was built on a slope. There was an effort to tier the sites so generally the parking pads were level but some of the entrances and exits from the parking pad could be steep. The interior roads and sites are paved with concrete parking pads. The roads were wide and the turns were easily negotiated by larger RV's. The sites were a mixture of pull through's (in the center) and back ins (along the outer edges). The P/T sites were long enough to stay connected to toads but angle of the entrances could pose a challenge. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50/30 AMP), & sewer. The connections were generally at the rear of the parking pad. The sewer connection was at the ground so it was easy to establish a downhill flow. Sites had sufficient room for opening slides. Distance and grassy areas establish privacy between the sites. There was a nice outside table but no fire pit.
There were no obstructions to the sky so satellite reception was good. Cable channel lineup showed 28 channels. The park provided WiFi was adequate. It was password protected. Our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about cell phone reception.
There was no designated fenced pet area but there was a sufficient distance along the park's roads (but they were up and down a hill) and the side walk along the main road to exercise a dog. There were bag dispensers and collection stations for waste throughout the park and garbage cans scattered around the park.
For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, didn't see an underground storm shelter or any structure identified as a severe weather shelter.
We would stay here again if visiting the area.
TIP: It made a good base of operations for visiting the attractions in the area. When the amusement park opened on the weekend, the noise level increased slightly. There is a Cummins "Coach Care" repair facility right across the street.

This is an clean, well maintained campground. Sites are level with concrete pad and patio and no shade. Our back-in site was more than long enough for our 42 ft motorhome and toad. A large picnic tables and a barbecue pit are on every site. The utilities worked well except for the WiFi which was strong but very slow at times. The problem is that the campground is located right on a very busy road with a lot of trucks passing day and night. Road noise is a problem especially if you get a back-in... Read More

The problem is that the campground is located right on a very busy road with a lot of trucks passing day and night. Road noise is a problem especially if you get a back-in site right against the road. Also there is no fence or any other barricade separating the road from the campground so people can just walk up to your site from the road. You have to enter the campground through the water park entrance. This is a bit of a pain when the lines get busy. Park noise is not a problem. Overall it is not a bad place to stay especially if you are going to the amusement and water parks on site.

The spacious paved sites were great. The connection post was an all-in-one and lit. My wife commented that this was the new standard for selecting RV parks! During check in I felt like I was checking in at an upscale hotel. Professional employees and nice facility. I will echo concerns of others regarding the WIFI. It was either very slow or I could not connect at all when the park was full.
Park was very nice and convenient to where we were spending our time. On the downside, the wifi password we were given didn't work for two days and when it finally would connect, there was no access to the internet. Also, the cable connection didn't work either and when we talked to the office they said someone would come and take a look. After three days, nobody showed up and it still didn't work. With the exception of wifi and cable, everything was very nice. I'd give a higher rating if they... Read More
