Stayed for one week at the Carlsbad KOA and found it to be a good, solid RV park. Situated just off a highway between Carlsbad and Roswell, it was easy access to places we wanted to go and for movement to our next location. Check in was quick and the camp hosts were professional and courteous. They had a nice store stocked with supplies which is important since the closest store was almost 30 minutes away. One cool extra was the outstanding sunsets.

The good news: it's out of the town bustle. The bad news: it's WAY out of town. Like 20 minutes North, which puts it about an hour from the Carlsbad Caverns park entrance. What you get are plenty of level gravel sites decently spaced and fantastically spaced during the Covid 25% capacity restriction. Hookups are fine, bathrooms and showers could be if we'd bothered, the "20 chanel" cable package has ESPN and ESPN2, the WiFi is terrible, but our T-Mobile signal is strong so I tethered to my phone.... For something so far out in the country the little convenience store should at least sell some milk and sundries, but all they have are cheap snacks and soda.

Facility is well kept and clean. The dog park area needs some maintenance but adequate. Not much shade. Overall a nice place to stay. A little farther than other parks in the area to Carlsbad Caverns, but the park is better. Nice staff and helpful. We would stay here again.

This KOA is the best KOA we have been to. The sites are very wide and long, the neighbors are a fair distance away, the roads are wide and easy to navigate (very big rig friendly), the staff is very friendly and quick to offer trips about local attractions, they have an on-site BBQ take-out that delivers right to your door AND the location is excellent. The park is located about 10 miles north of Carlsbad, which was perfect for us - close enough to all the local attractions for an easy drive, but... Read More

The park is located about 10 miles north of Carlsbad, which was perfect for us - close enough to all the local attractions for an easy drive, but far enough to enjoy the New Mexico outdoors outside of city limits. It is about 1/2 mile off of 285, and extremely quiet. This is New Mexico, so there is lots of gravel and dust and no shady spots. However, the park has nice landscaping and offers various options with additional features, like swings, covered tables, fire pits, etc. There is a small pool and a nice playground. We did not use the laundry or restroom facilities or the wifi.

Nice park. If you are looking for paved interior roads, perfectly manicured lawns and being stuffed into a site like a sardine, this park is not for you. If you understand that this is in NM and water and lawn are at premium, its all good. Great dog parks. Good, stable, clean hook ups. The trees don't provide much shade but they are growing. Park staff is very friendly and helpful. I for sure recommend this RV park.

We had a pull thru site, gravel, but very flat and level. I think they are all pull thrus at this campground. The bathrooms are large, spotless and very well designed. The staff was friendly and informative about local attractions. This is a very pet-friendly park with two dog runs which are cleaned out daily by the staff (unfortunately not everyone picked up after their dog even though bags and a trash can are located right by the gates). About half of the sites were filled by long term residents... Read More

The staff was friendly and informative about local attractions. This is a very pet-friendly park with two dog runs which are cleaned out daily by the staff (unfortunately not everyone picked up after their dog even though bags and a trash can are located right by the gates). About half of the sites were filled by long term residents which is typical during the winter months. While I was in the office one of the staff turned down a reservation for a long term camper. When I asked why, she informed me that they reduce the number of long term residents during the summer months to free up more sites for the tourist/short stay campers. This campground has a take-out "restaurant" on-site. The smoke their own pork and turkey and have homemade bread pudding as one of the desserts. I had the smoked turkey dinner, the best smoked turkey I have ever had, a big piece, tender and juicy. The only down side to this campground is that it is in the middle of the New Mexico desert half way between Roswell and Carlsbad Caverns. This makes for reasonable drives to those and other local attractions, but it is not a scenic area. They have made it more attractive by planting trees between each site and the desert has its own stark beauty. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed at. Large pull through sites. Plenty of space between sites. Great views. Nice amenities. Very private facility but near plenty of attractions. Wifi is not very strong. We never could get it working the entire week. Love the dog parks. Staff was very friendly and helpful. That said they messed up our reservations. We did not get the site we reserved and they did not charge us correctly. Took a lot of time to sort out. Very clean campground and restrooms.... Read More

We would definitely stay here again. Just remember this is a desert setting. The area has lots of thistle like things that get everywhere outside. Definitely lay out area mats under awning.

Very clean campground and facilities. Good location for traveling to local sites.

This campground is a bit pricey, but is a good spot considering you are in the Chihuahua Dessert. The WiFi from our site was pretty undependable. If I were to return to the area, I would pick this park. The staff was very helpful, even printing a a PDF document for me, and selling me a stamp. I especially recommend you sped a half day at the Living Desert & Zoo.

Bathrooms were open bay very clean with 2 toilets, 3 urinals, 3 showers, 3 sinks. There are 3 unisex private bathrooms located in the middle of the park. Pull in wide sites with gravel pads. Water, elect, and sewer connections were very good. Great reception area, laundry room and game room. Pool was in good condition. Staff was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. Park excellent shape and would suggest making reservations by phone. Barbeque dinner was excellent, pizza, and sandwiches are available... Read More

This is an attractive park in a desert environment. BUT close to Carlsbad Caverns, a living desert museum, and a state park with a lake. Most sites are pull-thru and have good space between them. The friendly staff had our reservation at hand when we arrived and escorted us to the site, making sure we found all the hookups. We were there in heat of July and their large building provided wonderful coolness and WiFi. BBQ, pizza, baked potatoes and more are available each evening. Makes a nice... Read More

Makes a nice supper with indoor tables to enjoy the meal. The entire building was spotless and nice. Didn't use the pool but lots of others were enjoying it. Lots of kiddos in the summer! There were dog areas that our dog used. Did use their laundry room which had newer machines! We highly recommend this campground.
