While traveling from California to Maine we were fortunate to be able to stay at King Phillips Campground in Lake George, New York over Labor Day last year. The campground is a great place to stay if you want to enjoy the beauty and activities of upstate New York. Lake George is beautiful and offers numerous activities for everyone. The campground is a great place to stay if you want to enjoy the beauty and activities of upstate New York. Lake George is beautiful and offers numerous activities for everyone.
The campground and staff itself are wonderful. We could not have asked for a better stay at a nicer place. There are some folks who leave their rigs there all summer and come up every weekend. I have been in other parks where you feel like an outsider when this occurs.. NOT HERE. Everyone, staff and clientele were wonderful.
We had the additional complication of having had reservations but had to cancel mid trip due to a death in the family. Once we determined that we should continue with our plans we called King Phillips knowing that we would be lucky to get a few days but hoped to get Labor Day weekend. Sam, the manager was extremely understanding and helpful. He did what he could to get us in and treated us wonderfully. When we needed an extra weekend due to the pandemic requirements before moving on to another state, he found us a site at another park.
I cannot praise the staff and the quality of this park enough. I cannot wait to return there in the future.

We love it here or we used too! We make reservations one year in advance and always request the same site as we are in a 43 foot coach. We have had issues with being moved from our reserved and paid for site despite confirming our site the the week before arriving. We choose our sites carefully because of the size of our coach and to be close to the WiFi which is not great. We do so as we work out of our coach part time. When we get moved at the last minute it is a very big disappointment. It took... Read More

It took us years to get to know the staff so check- in went smoothly and our reserved site was still ours. Now there is new staff and here we go again, moved at the last minute despite confirming our site the week before while we were here camping on our preferred site. The new staff is not knowledgeable and unfriendly.
After years of camping here we have finally had enough and we will no longer recommend this campground and we are moving on.
Sad because we really liked it here until this year!

Huge campground. We were in a very nice pull through site. There were many different kind of sites. Staff were nice and informative.
Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 4 nights in a site for big rigs. The site we had lacked gravel and when it rained our pad turned into a mud pit. Is it that hard to put a little gravel down on the dirt? We did notice the sites in the very front of the park did have a good amount of gravel and were level. There are a lot of full-time residents in this park, sometimes when you have this many full-time residents the park gets a little trashy, but this park is very clean. If you have a dog, there... We stayed there sun-fri, there were no activities, or anything to do. We were charged an extra $80 for our 2 children (22&23), they were classified as "adults", it was just 4 of us total. The pool was small and closed earlier on Sun than the posted time. Our site backed to a busy road, it was noisy. We tried to chat with the employees in the store, they were kind of rude. We mistakenly thought the trolley was complimentary based on the website. The bathrooms were clean, no paper towels or hand... Read More

The arcade is a fixed up shed, not many games. We've been camping for 30 yrs, Would not camp here again.

If you plan on being out most of the day hiking, etc. and need a base camp, this would be good. It's neat and clean enough. Bathroom areas were nice and clean. Shower areas were clean, but every one I used did not drain well leaving me standing in dirty water even in the dressing area. While the pool is on the small size, I saw a lot of people with lots of inflatables headed down there--must be fun! Playground is nice. Kids really enjoyed it. Map of campsites was unbelievably bad. Map of campsites was unbelievably bad. The escort service was never offered and I saw others struggling to find their sites while there. This was unpleasant enough with a popup. With a big rig...
"Nature trails" seems to refer to the nearby bike path which is great for biking and walking--no dogs allowed, though. Would have had to use the main road with little or no shoulder to walk the dog to town, so that didn't work out. Bear in mind that this bike trail into town is all downhill and quite steep at times, and then all uphill on the way back. If you are planning to do this with kids, they will need to be good riders.
Never found the snack bar listed on the web. The groceries and rv supplies are extremely limited although there is an abundance of junk food. Cable worked great. WiFi--I was never was able to get online although my mate said it worked very early in the morning.

My family and I went to King Phillips over the 4th of July weekend in a 36' class A. We only stayed for 2 nights but loved it. As mentioned in other reviews it isn't the standard grid layout of many other RV parks so it may take a few extra minutes finding your way around and getting into your site the first time but their layout will give you much more shade and just an overall better feel to the place. There were enough activities (pool, playground, ..) to entertain our 3 young boys. Bathrooms... Read More

We took our 5 year old granddaughter to the RV park for a weekend trip. We used the pool and took her to an amusement park right next to the rv park. She loved it and so did we. this was the 2nd time we had stayed at King Phillips and we will stay there again. Very convenient to stores and the village of Lake George. My wife and i highly recommend this park.
I would definetely recommend this campground if you wish to stay in Lake George. We stay at King Philipps for 2 nights, arriving late on Friday night. Although there was a "Late Arrival" box that I didn't see, a map of opened site was displayed at the entrance, so we chose one of the open spots. The whole campground is calm and clean. Kids loved the playground.
Very clean and large bathrooms. Friendly staff. whether you prefer sites right next to your neighbor or a bit more privacy, they have it. They are working constantly to keep the place pristine. There is a camp store. In addition, Stewart's, Rite Aid Pharmacy and an Indian and BBQ restaurant are approx a mile away, with a paved walking/bicycle path which takes you most of the way there. definitely will be back next year, God willing.
