Transient campers beware - this is a seasonal campground. Two adults camped here for 5 nights in July 2019 in a travel trailer. My comments refer to the area around sites 37, 64 etc. Plus In my area of transient camper sites, we had tall shady trees and spacious sites other areas are in full sun. Some seasonal campgrounds are overloaded with children riding bicycles and lots of noise, but this was not the case here. The lake was lovely and while swimming was not allowed, it provided a nice... My comments refer to the area around sites 37, 64 etc. Plus In my area of transient camper sites, we had tall shady trees and spacious sites other areas are in full sun. Some seasonal campgrounds are overloaded with children riding bicycles and lots of noise, but this was not the case here. The lake was lovely and while swimming was not allowed, it provided a nice catch and release opportunity. There were large mowed fields where children and golf carts could romp away. Minus Though there were several nice points, two negative aspects overshadowed our experience and lowered the rating significantly. Both should be improved by management/owners. 1. Bathhouse in desperate need of a serious update. Though it was clean enough, shower dressing area was open, no privacy at all. Lighting was adequate/poor. Some chrome shower fixtures were rusted. I doubt that the owners would take a shower there. Men's toilet stalls did not have latches on doors. Really? 2. Wifi was non-existent on weekends unless you tried before 6am and after midnight somewhat improved on weekdays. This was most frustrating, and I cannot imagine how the seasonals deal with that. Additionally, the office staff wasn't particularly friendly, giving the vibe that they didn't care if we were there or not. I don't think we would camp here again until we read reviews that these minuses are fixed.

One of the best kept secrets in the area. Very well laid out, clean and well kept. Playground, large fishing pond ( or small lake, take your pick ) FYI if in just for a short stay sites 132,134 and 134 are great. Easy in and out, afternoon shade from pine trees. Hope to return for a longer stay next year.

Had a great stay at Raccoon Hollow. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Site was surrounded by rhododendron. Bath facilities were very adequate and clean. Raccoon Hollow is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway and is close to West Jefferson, Boone, and other area attractions. Highly recommend this campground.
