We really enjoyed our stay at Rough Rider RV Resort in Minot, ND, while we were visiting our niece and nephew-in-law who are living on the air force base just north of Minot. The sites are gravel with easy access to water, sewer, and electric, and almost all sites are pull-thru. We arrived a day early and they were able to accommodate us for the extra day, which was great. The office was not open much of the time we were there, although we did stop in on our last day. We arrived a day early and they were able to accommodate us for the extra day, which was great. The office was not open much of the time we were there, although we did stop in on our last day. Not much of a store inside, so you'd better pick up your provisions in town. Although we didn't need to use them, the restrooms are not accessible. There are steps going up to the exterior doors of the restrooms, and there are steps going into the office. There may have been a ramp up to the office on the side of the building (I don't remember for sure) and you can access the restrooms from inside the office, but because the office was closed for much of our stay, we're not sure that would have been helpful. The laundry was out of service while we were staying there, but we found out when we stopped in the office that we could have used the machines even though there was a sign on the door. We had already done our laundry in town, so it didn't matter. We would stay there again if we come back to Minot!

Nice facility, quiet and away from the highway. Lots of shade although not all sites are shaded. Good dirt/gravel interior roads and gravel sites. Staff is friendly and the park is very neat and clean. The biggest plus is that they have great wifi. Staff tells us it was just upgraded and it shows. It did not bog down even during peak evening hours. For me the downside of this park is that they have pay showers. I am tall and when available I like to shower in the park shower/restroom.

The park is in a nice setting and is open year round and the onsite maintenance guy really does what he can given the vintage equipment he is provided. That being said they way over charge for what you get and the "showers" are $1.00 for 5 min and my 5th wheel produces more pressure and water volume running on the electric pump. If the maintenance guy actually had a decent skid steer he could accomplish much more especially during winter months. We had to hand dig the road out just to get to my... Read More

If the maintenance guy actually had a decent skid steer he could accomplish much more especially during winter months. We had to hand dig the road out just to get to my site because the old vintage ford tractor couldn't keep up with the snow not due to a lack of effort from pm and at the price they ask I would expect free showers and cable. The wifi worked good of course I didn't try it with a laptop but just with a phone. The electric was good (50 amp) and the water pressure was good in my site. The site was fairly level side to side 1 inch off which is to be expected on a gravel site. Monthly stays are site plus electric 600 winter 700 summer average electric from the people I talked to was $150. They also have onsite laundry I checked it out well lit and clean and coin op but I didn't use it. I guess my biggest gripe is the value I use my Rv cause it's cheaper and more convenient then a hotel but this time it wasn't. Will I return probably not if they don't lower the price. Or include electric, cable, and showers

The maintenance man was super friendly - but was overworked as he also had to run the office and do check-ins etc. They really need to have someone in the office and let the yard worker do his outside duties. That would be the only draw back to this campground. He delivered firewood to the site and even offered to start the campfire for us. Good value for wood. Everything neat and clean. The lane for our RV was a little muddy but I guess you can't hold them responsible for the weather - LOL... Read More

We spent one night here for the first time in many years. The oil boom has clearly changed the campground. It is very tight, and filled mostly with permanent rigs of guys working the oil fields. It was not unsafe, but it was just crammed to the walls with pickups and campers. You are really packed in now.

Thank you for your comments and for staying at RoughRider. We are aware that during certain times of the year we are packed in like sardines and we apologize for that. Hopefully you will choose to stay with us again.

We stayed 1 night along the "pond". We were visiting family in the area, and only reason we stayed there. It seemed kind of rough, just a "feeling", but was safe enough. They tried to make the bathrooms nice, but the price should have included a shower. Lots of seasonal/permanent campers. Maybe there with their family for work, but not my way of life. Some very nice rigs, but also piecemeal homes (tarps, plywood, duct tape). Ok for an overnight stay, but not a place to "camp".

Thank you for your comments and for staying at RoughRider. We are now under new management and have implemented new rules and standards for our long and short time visitors concerning the looks of their RVs and how they are setup, skirted and winterized. We believe that we have the "rough" look taken care of. We now have personnel living on site 24 hours a day to address security and any other problems that might arise. We look forward to seeing you here again and hope the changes we have implemented... Read More

Pricing is high for having not much more than a place to park. Dirt parking spot which was not level. Restrooms clean, but you have to insert quarters to use the showers so didn't use them. Several permanent residents live in park and have lots of stuff piled around their rigs, including one with a washer and dryer on wheels outside with a wood shelter over it. Many of the permanent residents do not obey the speed limit, causing dust . We only interacted with the staff during check in. There... Read More

There was confusion over the price posted and price on one of their two web sites.

Thank you for your comments and for staying at Roughrider. We apologize for the persons not obeying the speed limits and are working towards a solution. We just worked on quite a few of our sites getting them ready for the season. We leveled and cleaned all the sites that needed it. Our staff attempts to stop anyone going to fast and asks them to slow down. We have staff on the grounds 24 hours a day and I try to get around and interact with as many of our guests as we can.
