We stayed for a weekend at Hatteras Sands Campground in late April. We stayed in a "Waterfront Double" which is actually two full campsites on the canal. The pad was concrete, some are grass and others stone, which is nice. It was level but short. We probably could have fit both sets of jacks on the pad if I cared to but it was not long enough for my truck, in fact it was tight even to park my truck along the road. Fortunately they were empty because backing my rig, 31' trailer on 21' truck, would... Read More

Fortunately they were empty because backing my rig, 31' trailer on 21' truck, would have been a nightmare. I could not imagine trying to back my rig into a spot with campers on each side and across the road. The hookups were standard, and everything worked as expected. Be certain that you are hooking up to the sewer though, some of them are just an open pipe and there is a water shutoff that looks just like the sewer connection. Most of them seemed to have the threaded couplings though. They did have a few pull through sites and others that were angled but ours was 90* to the road. Some sites were smaller than others so look at the aerial photo on their website to get one that suits your needs. The pool was not open yet but looked very nice. The bath house, though we did not use, was very nice. It looked as if it were remodeled within the last year or two. Everything was very spacious and private. The people were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. There are a no frills campground but in the middle of Hatteras Village and very convenient to the the ferry and beaches so the location is prime. We will most likely return because we love the beaches of Hatteras.

On the way to the campground they called and said we would have to stay in another lot. When we got there we had to move two more times before getting a lot. The whole campground was dug up installing new sewer lines. We did not have a picnic table on the lot we had. Pool or hot not open yet. Floating dock was not open yet. They said they had open on April 1st. but had not cleaned anything up from being closed for the winter. Laundry area was out of order. No toilet paper in the bath house to use,... Read More

No toilet paper in the bath house to use, one toilet in men`s and one toilet in the women`s bath house was stopped up all the time while we were there four days. This was our first time there and our last time. Too much wrong with the campground to be changing what they are. $42.75 per night

We vacationed here on our first visit to the Outer Banks. I had visited in this area when I was a young child so my husband and I wanted to visit. We loved it. The campground and area was nice and quiet. We had a back-in site on the canal which leads to the Sound. Smaller sized campground compared to others, but we like that; not as busy. The washrooms/shower building was new and kept clean. They had recently built a small dock for launching kayaks, etc. The pool was well kept. The grounds were... Read More

The grounds were apparently being fixed up after the place was dormant and run down. There was a kiddie pool that wasn't yet up and running. The campground was biking distance to seafood markets, restaurants, stores, & seafood markets. There was a games room with arcade games & a ping pong table available, and internet in the campground. The sites are not huge, but we weren't there much. One suggestion is that they make the site numbers more visible, as they were painted on the asphalt and not easy to find. We hope to return there again in the near future.
